Perhaps you could mail them for more info. http://www.hocus-pocus.com/magicshop/

Hi there,

I can tell you what it is NOT. It certainly is not a Jim Sommers model sold through Klamm magic and it is also not any version of the Mak magic chair suspension. Since it uses an adult, it looks to be a different version or variation of chair suspension. I just do not recall it off hand. Let me look at my files and see if I can hunt down any information for you.

It is the Mak reinforced version. They are using someone elses video for the item.

Item description from the page linked to:

"For this brilliant classic illusion the magician can either use an assistant or a spectator from the audience! A wooden board is placed across two chairs and the assistant is asked to lie down. The magician dramatically takes one of the chairs away but the person remains suspended! Now get this, the magician now removes the wooden board, leaving the person still floating! The performer can walk entirely away when the chair and board are removed, and you can wave both hands above and below the person proving there are no wires. Put the chair and board back and the assistant jumps off the chair and everything is back to normal!

NOTE This illusion can support an adult upto 12 stone, and can be done surrounded!

Note these features;

Performer may walk ENTIRELY AWAY while person is suspended
A one-person illusion requiring NO assistants
Up and running with a minimum of rehearsal
Use ANYONE up to 170 pounds!
Chairs and gimmick are reinforced with steel for a stronger base
Chairs are standard commercial quality folding chairs
The board measures 45 inches long and 13 wide
The Covering cloth is 43 by 53 inches
The support on which the "floater" rests has been made extra large for a feeling of stabilitySupport board measures 10 1/2 by 36 inchesThis lightweight mystery packs flat and can be shipped or transported anywhere in the world.

Made by MAK Magic in the USA

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PRODUCT IS ORDERED IN UPON REQUEST PLEASE CALL US FOR LEAD TIMES!"

Interestig, cause I have never seen Mak put out a chair suspension looking like the version showed in the video. Their versions are both metal in fabrication and design.

The one in the video is NOT the one being sold. There are photos below the video that are of the Mak version.

Aww that explains it then. Very confusing to show a video of a chair suspension that is not even the one being sold. If you would like information on chair suspensions, just let me know.

The original post asked about the one in the video not the one in the photo.

The one in the video is probably custom made. The chairs look like Abbott's version. But the Abbott's version board can not be removed. The performer probably made a special ladder to go with the Abbott's version so it could be removed.

Mike;

The ladder type board is used so air from the big fans in the floor can blow up and keep the person suspended

I perform the Abbott's version and it looks nothing like it. The Abbott one uses reclining deck chairs.
