Just got off the phone with Puck. He's doing a killer illusion on America's Got Talent tonight.
Check it out and cast as many votes as you can. A magician has never made it to the finals. It would be great if Puck can break through... |

I will be voting for him. I just got an email from Denny Haney reminding me about it & it also reminds me I need to call him to make sure he got my reservation for an upcoming lecture... But yes - Best of luck to Puck!

I was honored to see him do the routine I created with my Micro Asrah/Cyrstal Casket ( http://www.masterofillusions.ca/me-asrah.html )and turn it into a large version, and use the silk as the ring.
Good job Puck!

My favorite part of that whole set was the way he got the signed hankie from Howard. He was like a Jedi! Way to go Puck on a job well done!

Video worked for me and I viewed on my smart phone.
As for the video, during the clips from the previous show was Puck doing Sean B's Dancing Hanky Act??

While watching the performance yesterday, I was wondering though if presenting magic in a format like AGT makes sense. The public expects "effort" while the best magic is the one that looks "effortless". It comes to my mind what Mike Close (?) wrote: for good magic to happen, you cannot show how skillful you are with magic (flourishes aside, but the magic content of a flourish is null). Talent is nowadays associated with being skilled... I enjoyed his performance but, like all performance with mid/big illusions, the role of the conjurer tends to be really diminished. I mean the illusion would have existed even if presented by Average Joe.
Notice that I am not saying that Puck didn't do a good job: it was terrific, my family really enjoyed it. Nor that he has no charisma, he has a very nice character. Last but not least he did well in the pre-show saying that "it was the hardest illusion, that he worked hard, etc." but that would also require a big "suspension of disbelieve". I turned off TV after he finished so I don't know if he was able to get into the final.
I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death my right to say "scr*w you" if you persist. [Voltaire ]

I also thought he did a fantastic job. The only thing I noticed, and I guess no one else on the show noticed, was that he made a point of telling the viewers, "From this point on, do not take your eyes off of the hanky", but then he covered it up with the cover. Maybe part of a hanky could have been attached to the cover and dropped down when he placed the cover? But like I said, I guess no one else noticed.
Great job, Phil |

I like the illusion and have worked with two Asrah illusions in the past and found it a little hard to watch when the women was covered. Talk about presenting your best parts. LoL
He did really well, hope nothing but the best for him. Ray |
