I think what Dan has come up with opens up many performance possibilities. Stash really gets the creative juices flowing. I'l probably muddy up Dan's theatrical, motivated piece of magic, but in the end, we have to make things are own.
Dan, I LOVE what you've offered us. |

There's some really cool thinking going on there for a stand-alone performance piece as you say. The basic structure of your routine contains a lot of magic, so you may want to think about streamlining each section to focus on individual climaxes. For example, bringing up origami so early is unnecessary since you're not going to do anything with it until the end. Just my thoughts, but I love that you're inspired to work with "Stash" in a much more involved way. Always nice to hear what people come up with! --Dan Harlan |

Received this yesterday afternoon - and it does rock!
Thanks Dan for a great effect! Nicely made prop and as always, great, simplified teaching of the moves. Definitely worth more than a lot of other stuff I've purchased recently. Jim |

OK, I'm going to share this. But PLEASE don't pile on that ruined Dan's trick;-)
I went for the paper today and went to pay with a check ( they don't take checks, as the Lady reminded me. ). I asked her to hold my pen ( Sharpie;-) while I got my wallet out. I asked her to cap it so it wouldn't dry out......took out a bill and did Money Morph and changed it into a pice of paper with "uncap the pen" written on it. She was stunned. Deer caught in the headlights with all the bells and whistles. I don't perform professionally, so the things I do when I'm out have to be really fast, etc. What shocks people with the cups and balls is the final loads ( IMHO ). The bill appearing in the Sharpie, for me, is the final load. Stash is one of the coolest things I've ever used. |

I got this a few days ago and finally today, I got the chance to very quickly made it up and try it a few times in front of a mirror.
Very simple, but very magical from a spectators point of view. I have an event tonight and will be trying it out and I am sure it will get excellent reactions. Dan does a great job(as allways) explaining everything very clearly & gives several ideas for different routines. Highly recomended for the working magician. 10 out of 10 Dan. Thank you. I tend to avoid giving something 10 out of 10. I may love and use it, but there's something that doesn't appeal to everyone. Maybe the deck is gimmicked ( nothing wrong with that, but it'a an extra deck to carry and maybe some won't do that ). Little things like that can keep the rating at just 9 ( which means it's fantastic ).
Stash is a 10. The shock on their face when they remove the cap of the very same pen they just capped and see a bill, is so over the top. Stash is for everyone. Hobby people, and Pro's. |

I used this last night and the reactions were fantastic. Maximum effect for minimum effort.
10 out of 10 ! I second Zombie's quote that Stash is for everyone. However, pros. would be crazy not to see the hugh advantage of snapping up this jaw dropping routine, which is technically easy to do, as Dan has done all of the work & routined this beautifully. Highly recommended. Mike Donoghue |

Here's my solution to the condition of the bill. Perform the $100 bill switch changing the 1 to a 20 that matches the one in the gimmick. Then explain that it's all about misdirection, let me demonstrate. Do stash with the 20 then as you promised they would get the note back exactly as they gave it to you repeat the $100 bill switch and hand them back their dollar. My preference would be to have 2 gimmicks one set for the dollar and one set for the 20 so that I only need to do the $100 bill switch as an out when the borrowed bill is not suitable. That said once my stash arrives (is it just me or did that last sentence sound a bit druggy lol) I'll try both versions and see which plays better.

Sweet! Everyone should buy two now! Also, a great big "THANK YOU" to Mike & Zombie for the high scores. I'm still waiting for the final marks from the russian judge, but so far everyone loves it. Sorry it took me so long to respond. I've spent the last few days prepping for the road and editing the vid for another new item... soon to be released! --Harlan |

Got this last week and finally performed it first time yesterday. Well, I stopped at the local magic store and performed this for the Demo Magician working. This left a huge smile on his face! When he uncapped the pen and saw the bill in there and unrolled it- he was smiling from cheek to cheek. At that moment I knew "Stash" was a winner! Then, just got to perform this at work this morning- one of the guys asked the new guy working, "Have you seen a Bob's Magic Moment yet?" Well, he didn't- so I happened to have "Stash" on me. Again- smiles from cheek to cheek and a, "That was good- real good!"
Dan- great idea, simple to perform and get's great reactions! For $19.95- a GREAT buy! Best, RNK

Had a chance to test this out now. The standard effect kills but as a mock explanation to the $100 bill switch it destroys them. Reactions are killer, they are expecting the change and it happens just as they look down to cap the pen. They look back up and see the bill has changed and think its over then as the note is unfolded and they uncap the pen they freak.
Also I have tried the initial $100 bill switch with both a borrowed bill and with my own bill handed out for examination first. Using my own bill has no impact as the change is so visual and they checked the bill first (I don't ask them to examine it I ask them to check the ink is dry ). Using my own bill has certain advantages, firstly they don't expect to keep the 20. While they check out the 20 I have more than enough time to ditch the tt and get prepped for stash. Also by using my own note for the original $100 bill switch I don't have to change it back, I can just pocket the £20 after stash. The disadvantage of this presentation is that I need to be setup with £65 to perform this. Doing stash alone only requires me to have £10 reserved for this effect so I may go down the route of being set up to perform either stash or the $100 bill switch dependent on the quality of the borrowed £5 note. This set up for this option only needs £30 quid. Hey I'm raising 3 kids alone, having £65 quid in my pockets is no easy task lol. Mark |

One small subtlety I added is to fold and crease the bill I use in the gimmick before rolling it. It quietly adds to the "reality" that it's the same bill. (Though they surely know that it isn't!)
Thanks! Jim |

I'd say folding and creasing the bill is a necessity. Another subtlety is to scribble on both bills in exactly the same place with one of the security pens they use in shops. The scribble is innocent and incidental and no attention should be drawn to it but it's an added convincer.

Got mine today. I must compliment Dan on how fast he got this out to me. The work on the pen is perfect. This is a great value and I can't wait to start working on it.

I have to pipe in here.  I hope I don't end up repeating other people's sentiments, but my situation is that I don't have a PC or internet, and my only access to the Café is my Iphone, and the posts are very difficult to read and navigate, so please bear with me if I end up saying what's already being said.Â
OK guys? Anyway, let me say this. When I first saw this, I thought "Man, that is the coolest thing I have seen in a long time. And it's definitely the coolest thing Dan has put out in a long time, too." Just watching and thinking about the concept of it, I was sold. To me it was highly evident that this is commercial, clever and the kind of eye popping magic that my antennas are always up for. Personally,I think the idea of the "stash" appearing on the bill is a piece of genius. It is very pschologically strong and sound. I mean, from the spectator'sviewpoint, the "stash" is a random mark that appears on the bill , and when the same "random" mark is found on the bill in the marker, well, let me just say, folks, that's pretty strong medicine. The change seems to happen so openly and above board, that I feel people are going to pretty much accept that it is the same bill. After all, the same "random" , magically generated stash is on it, and in their minds that mark is unique, and there is only one in the world. That's just my opinion, for what it's worth. Anyway, I'm broke, and don't have any money to spend, BUT, if I did come into some extra cash, this effect from the ever creative Mr Harlan, is now at the top of my list. I gotta have it! I suspect I would do it ALL THE TIME.  I'm in love with the coolness and slickness and commercial appeal of this effect, and it's not even in my posession!Â
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

Well I've literally read everyone's reviews on "Stash" and I am SOLD. Is Dan's site currently the only place selling this effect?
Posting ever so slightly.
