A couple years ago I bought a pumpkin at Hobby Lobby and figure to make a vent figure out of it, with a scarecrow like body. Haven't had time yet, but have been designing the mouth construction in my head for quite awhile now! If you're close to a Hobby Lobby, you might go look around for inspiration. They've got fiber or papier mache pumpkins in all kinds of sizes, as well as other items that would be easy to re-engineer into puppets.

Axtell Expressions Hang on Monster.

I even had mine painted with special paint and special fur so that he glows under black lights.

Dunham's new Minding The Monsters Halloween theme show features his regular cast costumed for Halloween. You may want to consider that rather than spending money on a puppet and having to create a whole new character. Dressing them up gives you the opportunity to explore different territory with an established personality!

That's not Photoshop, that's what the puppet looks like.

Great idea. Paul Winchell and Edagar Bergen often changed their figures costumes. I have seen clips of and read that Winchel even applied stage make up to his figures easily done due to the oil based paint finishes of his figures.

This is the head extention Winchell used to turn Jerry Mahoney into a Frankenstein character. I took this picture at Venthaven in 2006
