Look in the miror Kent: you're still the best (by far) depite your age like the evil step mother in the fairy tale... but there are a few young guys pushing.
Keep on improving for they will catch up one day or the other because you placed the bar at such a high level that sooner or later, one will jump it. So keep on moving as you're doing and keep us dreaming about non pompous magic

I just received Larry barnowski's routine in his Book of Destiny © 2011 Gyromagnetic Press Ch 34 p 257
The routine is very original and includes both unusual effects and some technical originalities. It also has some moves that go by very well with lay people but that work as feints for magicians. All in all a very good routine and the book's physical quality makes it a pleasure to hold and work from. Thank you Larry.

So, this is an older thread but someone mentioned Vanni Bossi's routine and I'd never seen that. Does anyone know if it is in print or on video anywhere?

I find this very amusing, because I have seen Kent Gunn perform his routine many times, in person. I've seen Paul Gertner perform his routine four times in person, and Shawn Farquhar perform his routine four or five times, in person. I haven't seen Vanni Bossi's routine yet, so I will refrain from comment on his routine. I have seen most of the great C&B workers do their routines live at least once. This includes Michael Vincent, Johnny Thompson, Michael Ammar, Dai Vernon, Suzanne and dozens of others. There are many really great cups and balls routines being performed and many great routines that have been performed by past masters. I can't possibly list all of them.
It all boils down to a matter of artistry. Each artist has a different way of making a connection to his/her audience. All of them do it with a flawless performance. But all of them manage to communicate with the audience on a level much deeper than technical facility. It's a matter of making a spiritual connection that often does not come across via video. If you want to really understand this, read Punx's essay "Of False and Real Magicians" from Farewell Performance. Kent Gunn does this. So does Michael Vincent. So does Johnny Thompson, as well as Shawn Farquhar, Michael Ammar, Suzanne, and so did Vernon, Cellini, and many others who have never even appeared on video. Etienne has the gift of being an artist. So does Al Schneider. (If your name isn't on my list, it may be a matter of my memory and not your performance!}

Zach,
That performance was a one-off in front of a bunch of drinking magicians. I have kept the mechanics identical, but the story goes like this now. (No swearing) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wksAZSAccvQ KG |

I will simply add that Kent got a standing ovation for his performance of the Cups Sans Profanity at Wizardz this week.
