I was one of the lucky few given a setg of the alchemists bane routine and cards.I promised to post on them so here is the first installment.
first off I want to say thank you to david for sendding these out to me. they were made and aged by david and the routine and design was one from PROF BC. the cards look authentic. so much so that when I showed them to a practicing alchemist he was begging me to tell him where I found suck a valuable artifact. he went as far as to offer me lots of money for them. I told him they were not forsale and that they will be handed down to my children. so he offers more money lol. nice! the routine its self is very easy to do spo it leaves a lot of room for story and presentartion. in my opinion these should be marketed and they would bring a nice bit of change to the creator. this gift means a lot to any that own it. ty david and prof bc. |

These were a free gift I created to go along with DarkSpell. The deal was (and is) any DarkSpell owners are free to download the file containing all of my art work (ready to print) as well as the performance manual. The art work actually makes six sets of cards from a single print run, and I said that those who made the cards were (and are) very welcome to give away their extras as presents but are in no manner allowed to sell them (since they are a gift from me)--except possibly to defray any nominal costs associated with the actual printing and shipping.
David was kind enough to take up the offer. He printed his set, aged them (very beautifully) and proceeded to offer his extras as a present to any who wanted a set. I have no plans to market them, but I do continue to encourage (and encourage strongly) DarkSpell owners to run off their own copies and give away their extra sets as best pleases them. And I am simply delighted that Michael got a set. Couldn't be in better hands. Thanks David, yours is truly a great soul. DarkSpell owners, everything is on Outlaw's DarkSpell forum. Best, Prof BC

>Outlaw Effects
>DarkSpell >Props >Christmas Present You will find the link there for the following: "Printable props and full instructions for The Alchemist's Bane. If you download the three files you will gain complete access to the trick described in your DarkSpell performance manual: The Alchemist's Bane. What you will find: two pdf files of cards (fronts and backs), nineteen cards in all (enough to make 6 sets with a single printing) and the pdf performance manual file with everything you need to perform The Alchemist's Bane. What you will need to provide: Nineteen sheets of very heavy paper (110 pound card stock or greater), an office printing company to colour print fronts and backs for you, and the ability (if desired) to age the cards once you have cut them out. Aging is as simple as sanding the printed cards lightly with a fine grit sandpaper and staining with strong tea or coffee to the desired look. You have 6 decks with a single printing, so you have plenty to experiment with to reach your final desired look. Please note, the page fronts are in the same order as the page backs (first images go together, second images go together, etc.), so it is merely a matter of feeding the paper through one file and feeding it through again to print the backs in the same order. The only thing I ask in giving you this gift is that you do not sell these cards for any amount of money. You are welcome to make gifts of these decks as well as sharing the performance manual so long as it is done for free. None of what you download here (or print from what you download here) may ever be sold but only given away. You may charge a nominal fee to cover your expenses for printing & postage." Prof BC

All,
I had a nice time making the set. I would be happy to make another batch of them, with the good professor's blessings. However, there should be an exchange of energy of some kind...something that benefits all who are using them and will provide inspiration to those who want to take this effect - or a similar one - to a novel place. Perhaps we throw around some ides for what this exchange could look like - nothing financial - and see what transpires? Best wishes to all, David |

Frustration. That is the single best word to describe the emotion of the worker at our local copy store as he tried to get the 200 pound cover stock to feed through his color copier (unsuccessfully, I might add).
Perseverance. This is the single best word to describe the work ethic of this frustrated worker. 19 copies front. 19 copies back. Jamming in the copier every single time. It took an entire day and a half for this worker to get the copy job done, between all of his other 'easy' jobs. Now I have cut all of the cards and arranged them in stacks - each stack is 1/2" thick. All ready to age... But there is nothing transpiring in this thread. Surely some of you can think of ways to share. I do not want to expose too much of this effect for those who are unaware...so I will see if the good Prof BC will be willing to share some kernels with us all to see what good ideas may get stirred up... Best wishes to all, David |

I am interested but I have don't understand the exchange. I assume some other contribution such as a short video, like what George has been doing for L#N@, or some other tangible such as the quizzes that I have been developing for PH@nt0M5, GH*ST, etc.

Exchange...
routine ideas video of performance different handling add ons and other items to incorporate with them some original items of your own for the AB group to use..... david left it pretty much open. as to what this effect is think a soft core version of white star/Hampton falls that can be done for any audience without fear of offending or chasing off guests. it can be spooky or just plain mentalism. it is up to you to decide how deep to take it. the art work is perfect. they are M@RKED to make handling easier and this will allow you to uuse them in many other routines. |

I do think the exchange should be done as a private list or atleast in a section of the crypt

Ok guys,
David has stated that he will make up a set if we get enough people to join in the fun. so far we have George. we need atleast 2 more people to justify the printing, and the effort of those that will contribute to the share program. once we have a list David will complete the printing and we will adjourn to the crypt to start the creation and sharing. David does this to get people to contribute to the art in an open and sharing way. His generosity is a creadit to him. |

Well, this serves me right for busying myself outside of the Café (buried in Doppelganger as you might guess).
I had so many PMs asking if I'd be interested in aging a set for people, with offers to pay, that I approached my dear friend Vic Nadata at Gemini Artifacts and offered him the chance to produce a Deluxe set of Alchemist's Bane and offer them on his site. He is looking into creating a larger set with some extras (velvet bags, etc.) thrown in, and I've planned a new performance manual (well, some additional handlings of the cards added to the current performance manual). I do indeed give my blessings to dear David to go forward with this kindness, and I will see to it that he gets a set of the Deluxe cards gratis for his goodness IF the Gemini offering goes forward . . . but before that happens, let me ask you who are interested, would this be something you would give *me* your blessings to do, or should it remain a free giveaway limited only to owners of DarkSpell and those they know? I will be entirely directed by your discussion concerning this. All best, BC

I do own D@arkspell, and I think it would be a good idea to open this up. So, I would like to see a go ahead in the Gemini Artifacts project! Do other owners concur?

I concur with opening it up! I also invite folks who have DS to add to the conversation in the thread in The Crypt regarding routining for AB.
Best wishes to all, David |

I own DarkSpell and I think it would be wonderful if Vic produced some professional sets. After all, DarkSpell owners would still have the option to make their own cards for free.
The prospect of a new Prof BC Performance Manual is wonderful. I'm in. |
