Hey people,
I am just an enthusiast of card magic, never attempted more than a few tricks at home, but always appreciated the art. I'm watchiong Richard Turner's Best of the Bottoms, and the first move, the first move I'm ever learning mind you, is the Turner Seesaw Sail. And everything looks really cool and then I notice that there seems to be a major flaw, which may be common knowledge to those in the know, so this is just a naive person's opinion. Everything about the move that I can see is awesome, small condensed movement and consistent movements regardless of the deal. But the way the thumb moves is not consistent. I didn't notice it at first, so there's that, someone with no knowledge will not see it at first, but because I get the benefit of slo-mo, it became obvious that the thumb moves differently when performing the sail. I'm assuming someone who knows what they are doing could learn to spot that immediately, so maybe this is more a fundamental move to learn that teaches some important principles, but perhaps not something a professional card mechanic might use with experience eyes around him. If anyone can comment on this observation I will learn something no matter what, I figure. Thanks. |

I'm not interested in pro card mechanics as a career of course, but if you want to understand a set of skills contained within an art, you have to find the best of the best, which is why I am trying to start by watching the best, thanks to recommendations at Magic Café.
Actually Turner and I have a lot in common, his karate stuff was both hilarious and very famliar to me as I did the same stuff. He is a hard man, that's for sure! Amaazing. It's guys like Turner that inspired me growing up, usually they had to be characters in a story, you know. People of such a level of mastery that it is truly something, which is why magic never ceases to astonish. |

You can't edit posts here, so I have to correct myself, Seesaw Bottom Deal, not Sail. See, newb
