Headed straight to the store to buy one for myself, and it's with me every time I go up to the castle now.

I recently saw the trick and thought, "how cute." And I didn't buy it. Now, after reading all of these posts I'm saying "Gonna get this one this week!"
I like fun and different looking tricks and this is clearly fun and a bit off the well-worn card trick path! Thanks to all who shared their thoughts. Best Wishes!

In the final phase, I let the spectator himself find his card, by giving
him the plunger and tell him and mime the movement to do (zack zack) huge reactions because it happens at his own will. give it a try. works every time:) btw: I never ever used the gimmicked plunger. takes a second for the spectator to work it out.

It seems that a lot, actually most, performers don't use the gimmicked plunger. Am I correct in that brief observation?
Thanks! Carl

I have not used the gimmicked plunger and I do not plan on using it. There is no need, unless you want to show off and perform a routine where the spectator fails and you succeed. Just not my style.

I think that even a cursory examination will let people see that there's SOMETHING there, even if they aren't sure what it does and wouldn't take long for them to realize what is going on. I can envision a couple of things (not sure if any are what dave_matkin might be considering) with multiple gimmicked plungers, but the routine the way it's presented, in my opinion, is just not great and definitely nowhere near as strong as the normal plunger. But, everyone has a style and maybe some people like it and pull it off. |

I like in the Chinese show how he uses the plunger stuck to the selection as an easel to prop of the card on his hand. Nice display

Hung out with some lay people who hardly ever watch magic. They did go to the Castle and saw John Armstrong perform Tiny Plunger. It's all they could talk about. They freaking loved it. So if you're wondering what real lay people think... They were highly entertained.

I don't use the gimmicked plunger...the routine on the DVD does not appeal to me. It is nice having choices though.

Jon Raucherbaumer has written an ebook with some nice routines on this. Found out about it from the review in Genii.

Thanks for the heads up on the Racherbaumer ebook. The routines with the plunger were interesting but for me, the included breather tutorial was worth the price of the book. For some reason, I never had an actual source for the bc and Racherbaumer's mini tutorial and pictures finally got me comfortable with creating the crimp.
I just improvised a routine and demo'ed it for my kids. It is amazing how a suction cup on a stick can create so much excitement. I'm gonna have fun with this. Quote: On 2013-10-08 14:46, bobn3 wrote:
