I have seen the routine where 4 or 5 dollar bills fairly shown change to 4 or 5 100 Dollar Bills. Also fairly well displayed.
Recently I saw an ad for Mark Allen’s 3-D Cash. It reportedly is a three-phase routine i.e. 1 to 20's to 100's. Can someone post a review either here or in the DVD review section and then let me know it is there. Thanks Harris Deutsch Laughologist

I like slow burn the best. I mean talk about VISUAL… then Hundy 500. It is angle proof, yes, but spectators gasp when I show the visual change of slow burn. …And 3d cash is ok. I didn't really like the video.

In my opinion, 3-D Cash is the best of the bunch (and arguably was one of the inspirations for Hundy 500.) The display and change do not have to be done the exact way they're done on the video, and instead can be done similarly to Hundy 500 if that's what you prefer.

Hundy 500 is the best. Then 3-D cash and then Slow Burn.

Wow Harris, good luck. You have three reviews here that say get different items. You really can’t go wrong. I stick by slow burn. It is the most visual transformation and laymen love visual…

Do you have to dedicate several $100 bills for that 3D cash effect? My wife only gives me .50 a week allowance.

Joseph, just save up your allowance for 400 weeks.
Actually, you can do the effect with $1 bills, $2 bills, and $5 bills (which is what's used in the on-line demo.) That would be an outlay of only $40. I perform the effect with $5 bills, $20 bills, and $100 bills, for a total outlay of $625. Here's a picture of my wife if she ever finds out. . |

Can anyone of these effects be done with any other currency than with the American dollar bills?
What about different colors of the different values? Lets say one bill is green and the other you want to change it to is red? Mabee |

Sure you can use different currency, the only restriction is that the bills have to be the same size. You can even just use blank paper cut the same size to your bills and change bills to blank paper.

Slow Burn suggests you use different bills and the DVD shows you the procedure using Argentine bills.

Larry,
Love your post. LOL! I guess your wife never sees you perform. I use Hundy 500. What makes 3D better? Hugh |

Out of all three, Slowburn is the least expensive to carry around. However, I am not a big fan of Slowburn. Without going into great detail, if this trick does not work for you it gets real expensive, real fast.

But which one is the cleanest and most angle proof of the three? I've heard that Slow Burn gets a bit expensive, so I thought I was going to buy Hundy 500 but then 3-D cash came along and messed with my mind. So now I'm back where I started and don't know which one to get.
Can anyone give a fair reveiw of the three comparing advantage and disadvantage they have? Mabee |

Mark Allen taught me the change (from American to Canadian) at least 15 years ago. He even made the Gaffs for me. He's been doing it at least that long. I've seen him do 3-D and it's a killer. Buy it. Tom

Quote: None of them are "clean" in reality since you're using gimmicks, but all 3 of them are equally clean in appearance. Hundy and 3-D are angle-proof, and Slow Burn has some angle issues. 3-D is the most magical in my opinion because of the double change.

Any thoughts on using blank paper, crayon drawings, real bills?
Nice way to save a few bucks and keep the kids entertained, and have a story to tell
...to all the coins I've dropped here

JonTown,
My gut tells me that it wouldn't be as effective as changing lower denomination bills into higher denomination bills (regardless of the fact that the infamous Fred Kaps performed the effect the way you suggest). My instincts are usually good, but I've been wrong many times before and the only way to know for sure is to try the effect different ways for laymen numerous times and to judge the reactions. Here's the reason my gut tells me that changing blank paper/crayon drawings into bills wouldn't be as effective...I think laymen would realize that the magician simply switched one for the other although they wouldn't know exactly how. To some extent, but to a lesser extent in my opinion, the same can be said for switching lower denomination bills to higher demonination bills, but I think because the CONTRAST between one bill and another isn't as great as the contrast between blank paper/crayon drawings and real bills there's a greater chance that spectator's will "suspend their belief" in the former versus the latter situation. Again, my instincts on this one could be totally off and the true test is in the performance. Larry D. |
