Hey! I have just learnt the Mnemonica stack online. Now as I have done so , I don't know any tricks using this amazing stack. Can you teach me one here or give me a resource on the internet that would teach me? SORRY but I don't have any money to buy books or Dvds.
Also a big thanks to Harry Loryane for writing the Memory Book...the peg system has really helped me to learn the stack. I am a beginner sort of a card magician. I know a couple of self working tricks , Si Stibbens , very less card slights like the elmsely count and all...but I am familiar with effective false shuffles and cuts. So now you can make an idea of my skill Please Help! |

I'd recommend that you buy the book "Mnemonica" by Juan Tamariz.

Mnemonicosis is the name of one effect from the Tamariz Book. The effect is that the spectators simply name any card and you find it. It's the same trick as the Vernon "The trick that can't be explained" but done with a memorized deck. In the Tamariz approach the magician doesn't handle the cards. He simply has the spectator complete a series of actions which results in finding the selection. Tamariz says that it's one of the strongest card effects that he does.
Since you don't handle the cards, there is no sleight of hand. There is, however, a lot of head work. Here's one example of how it might work out. Tamariz does some shuffles and cuts (false) and places the deck down on the table. He asks a spectator to name a card and the spectator names the King of Clubs. He then asks the spectator to cut a packet of cards from the top of the deck. He suggests that it should be about 1/4 of the deck. The spectator does so and Tamariz tells him to turn that packet face up. Lets say that the 8H shows on the face of the packet. Tamariz would point to the larger, face down pile of cards and ask the spectator to spell his first name (Juan), taking a card off the packet with each letter. He turns up the final card (in this case the fourth card since his name spells with 4 letters.) It is the requested card, the King of Clubs. To lay people this is a miracle. And to most magicians, too. Remember, the procedures followed will be different each time, and it will take a lot of work and practice to perfect this. Dennis Loomis

TC, I'd start getting some money. Because you WILL want to learn from Tamarz, Bannon and Aronoson; to name a few.
Until you have the buck$ to invest, I suggest you visit Dennis' Website (^ see above). FREE. He is VERY genererous with his knowledge and discoveries.

To sahilyoyomaster,
You won't find Mnemonicosis explained on the internet because it truly can't be explained. However, the basic idea is this: when you cut a deck into two parts, there are four places from which you can proceed: the top of the first packet, the bottom of the first packet, the top of the second packet, and the bottom of the second packet. You need to very quickly determine if you can get to the card by counting or spelling to it from one of those starting points. This means that you really have to be the master of your stack. I won't tell you a lot more because this is Juan Tamariz' trick and a good reason to save up the money and buy Mnemonica. The Vernon effect is somewhat easier to do because you hold the deck yourself and can incorporate some sleights. But having the spectator hold the cards and do all the work is what makes Mnemonicosis a true miracle. Dennis Loomis

Hey Guys,
Any of you know of a way to produce any suit, called for using mnemonica? I couldn't find anything on this in the JT book. Appreciate your help. Thanks, Nate http://www.aceofillusions.com

Juan goes into a lot of detail describing how to produce all of the suits in chapter 5. Pages 37-43

It doesn't make much sense to use Tamariz Mnemonica stack without understanding how it gets that way, and how it works with the faros. You really need the book. With it, you won't just learn a bunch of mindless tricks. The book is definitely worth owning. I don't even use the mnemonica stack, but I do use a lot of the technique involved and many of the concepts he covers there.

Yeah, you really need that book man. Most of the good stuff you can do with this stack won't be found on the Internet. Use your pop's lawn mower and bang out a few yards over the weekend and you'll have enough money to grab this book. Plus you can learn how to get into this stack from new deck order and vice versa with just a few shuffles. This is a pretty thick book with tons of routines and ideas. Well worth it especially if you already took the time to learn this stack.

Dennis Behr has some great ideas to produce any suit called for from the Tamariz stack. The effect is called "Plop" and I think it is in the first volume of "Handcrafted Card Magic".

Hi Markus,
Just to confirm, Plop is any four of a kind called for, not any suit. Baobow |
