Definately being alone at night or alone in any kind of water whether it be a big pool or the ocean. It just creeps me out when I open my eyes underwater and see the unending depths (that's in the pool). Also my fear of being alone AT NIGHT seems to fool my ears because whenever I'm downstairs I always hear footsteps going up the stairs and around the house. I'm mad. One time that happened but when I ran upstairs with a pocket knife it was only the landscaping dudes with a bill, weirdos.

Footsteps on the stairs, eh? Yep... your house is haunted. Now just wait for the undead to stand at the foot of your bed and stare at you. They'll just stand there, kinda see-through, and you won't know what they want. And they won't really care that you have a pocket knife. Yep, haunted house.
Er... not to make you worry or anything... |

I have a weird one. Since I was very young I've had this nightmare of an unseen force seizing me and hoisting me paralyzed and cold to the ceiling, unable to scream or move while it squeeeeeezes me. The feeling is absolute terror. I think it is a sign of a subconscious fear of being powerless.
In waking life, I have always been fascinated with conquering fear. I have jumped out of helicopters and enjoyed working at the top of ladders, swam in the ocean alone at night, walked in the deep woods alone in the dark, fought much larger/stronger opponents in the ring, faced down bugs almost as big as my hand (no exaggeration!), come face to face with various dangerous wild animals, been in a storm at sea, dumped my whole life and moved across the country with no forwarding address, and so on... BUUUUUUTTTT... I still get this nightmare. It's like instead of conquering all my fears, I've squeezed them all into this one manifestation. Weird. -Reg {*} p.s. Oh yeah, I almost forgot...performing for kids, now that scares me...

The wind at night when I'm trying to sleep - don't know why.
Needles. I even started giving blood a few years ago to overcome my fear. Hasn't helped but I still give blood regularly. Recently my 20 year old cat has come down with a kidney condition which requires me to administer a daily IV and shots three time a week. He doesn't seem to mind but I break into a cold sweat everytime I pull out the needle. The things we do for our pets! |

When I was little I had this dream of a man walking down the stairs and he would look up at me and say, if you see me again this evening your time is up This scared the HELL out of me because the evil in his presence was beyond a dream.
So what happened is I drew a picture of him and burnt it. He never appeared again. Even though this made me feel better it also scared me. I now do believe in true evil (and good) I f you fear something tangible draw a picture and burn the ?ß~?@%£@ trust me it works Please excuse my language but if you have a problem just do it. Extremist politics from either side of the spectrum, especially when the adherents begin talking curtailing civil freedoms for the "betterment of society."

I don't like Insects which fly, their wings beating and buzzing and Beetles are ok when they walk but when their backs split open and wings come out! I just freeze but try to run, Moths! when they come in my bedroom and start taping on the lightbulb, in the summer we have Flying Ants! they don't care about where they fly! they go in your hair, clothes everywhere! Butterfly's, Bee's, Wasps, Daddy Longlegs, Ladybirds!
I hate them all and have to kill them (sorry about that) if they go on me or come into my room |

I'm scared of the dark and hae spent £520 on hypnosis but I'm still scared. I also have a massive fear of snakes (which is why I won't travel). I can understand the being alone thing too, that scares me as well.

Normally when I say that I'm really scared of snakes people love to tell me stories of snakes which they came across on holiday. I'm happy where I am just as long as they don't have snakes in the casinos in Veagus I'll be fine. If they do I will run the 3 minute mile.

Drowning and clowns. I think it all stems from the time I went to a pool when I was 10, and a clown tried to drown me.
Thought: Why does man kill? He kills for food. And not only food: frequently there must be a beverage.

I am TERRIFIED of wasps and roaches. Someone once told me that if I was stung, that I would overcome my fear of wasps. I was stung the next day, and it did NOT help any. Every time I see a wasp I run screaming in the opposite direction.
