Hi,
I have a Hp ipaq Pocket pc and I plan on using it to take bookings when at gigs. It syncronises with Outlook on my pc. Does anyone use a Pda/pocket pc for bookings and can reccomend a suitable combo program for bookings other than outlook? Phillip |

Hi, Phillip.
I use just the outlook component myself. In my "other life", I'm a computer programmer who actually write programs for those little devices, but it's like the old saying about the cobbler's kids going barefoot. I really, really, really like the handwriting recognition on the newer pdas. I can actually write in a name, address and telephone number just as fast as jotting it down in a notepad. Mike

Hi,
yes mine came with an alternative handwriting recognition package which I found better than the one in the flash rom it is called Microsoft Transcriber version 1.5 for Windows (r) CE Copyright (c) 2001 Microsoft (r) Corporation http://www.microsoft.com Windows is the trademark of Microsoft Corporation ========================================== About Microsoft Transcriber ============================ Transcriber offers natural handwriting recognition technology for all styles--cursive, print or mixed. Employing advanced fuzzy logic and neural net techniques, Transcriber recognizes arbitrary symbol strings as well as words from its integrated dictionary. Transcriber technology is the superior solution for your everyday personal and business needs. Transcriber 1.5 is optimized to run with the latest Windows CE based color Pocket PC's. It was on the disc that came with the PDA Phillip |

Hi Phillip, I've been looking at these for a while, but I'm concerned that I'll buy it, and then get bored with it and go back to my normal diary, I'll have waisted quite a bit of money. So please keep us informed as to how good it is and then I'll buy myself one.
All the best, Billy I've just been to your link above, but can't find the pocket pc your talking about. Is it just called the Microsoft Tanscriber 1.5, or is there another name to it? Cheers It's Ok Philip, I've found it. Duh!!! I thought the pocket PC was called the Transcriber. Just call me THICK! |
