Indeed, that is what was cool, learning from, so to speak. What it is that we learn from is more the point.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

I think part of that education is the sepporation between soldiers doing their job, and policy of a government. This is an important distinction, and it is good that as a country we seem to have gotten to it. I was trained specifically to maintain seperation between politics and the military and to be apolitical while I was serving. The reason for this was because if soldiers become involved in politics while serving, it undermines civilian control of the military and in effect also undermines our democratic institutions. The founding fathers feared the notion of a military dictatorship and anytime the military becomes involved in politics it makes the notion of a military dictatorship possible, which is why it is very important for the military to remain apolitical and not involve itself in politics. It helps to keep and maintain civilian control and authority over the military. Part of the military's job is to do as the civilian authorities order them to do. If for some reason the citizens of the country do not agree with what their elected officals are doing or their policy then it is up to them to become politically involved and vote them out of office and replace them with officials who will do the bidding and will of the people. The military just does as it is told to do by the elected officials that the people elect.

I meant more that the populace has moved to the position.
