Here's a good one. I just received a phone call (my wife decided to answer) from: 971-217-9514 in Beaverton, Oregon. The guy was Indian or whatever. He's telling me that my PC is sending error messages to "Windows" not Microsoft, but "Windows" . I ask him what the heck he is talking about and what errors. Well he needs to run a scan which is free, but depending on what he finds, there will be a charge involved. How stupid do these people think we are? You can imagine what I told him. He actually hung up in the middle of my "Response". Friggin' Idiots. On a positive note, I got an email from a gentleman overseas and it looks like I have come into some money....

Jack, that's a known scam, as you're well aware. Microsoft never calls customers. It's a third party (such as the Russian mafia, believe it or not) who hires the call center to get victims for their phishing scheme. I gather the call center scripts specify to hang up if the customer seems too smart- they prey on the computer-illiterate and uninformed. I've gotten a few of these calls, they always hang up mid-word as soon as I start calling them on their malarkey.
Unfortunately, since they're both out-of-country, and completely illegal, they can completely ignore any Do-Not-Call lists without repercussion.

The question was: How stupid do these people think we are?
It's a numbers game. These people know that there is one in every village.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

The way the world is going, I'm thinkin' there are more than one in every village.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

It's a numbers game. If you send out a million spam mails and get maybe a few dozen hits, you've made back all the money and then some. I assume the hit ratio on the calls is higher.
