I need a holdout or a clip to hold a kabuki streamer pack. Let me explain. The packet is made by Viking Magic. It is approx 1"x1/2"x2" and has a tab you can hold between your index and middle finger. Here is the problem; the tab runs along the back of the package and I have yet to find a good way to clip the pack under my coat so as to grab the tab between my two fingers and then produce the streamers as a final load. Any suggestions?

Why don't you try a conventional billiard ball clip? That's what I use.

Yeah and you could bend the ball clip accordingly, it's relatively weak metal.

You might also be able to modify a butterfly clip to do the same thing. It would be worth playing around with.

I've tried the billard ball clip and the results were less that I had hoped. The clip worked fine until I tried to grip the tab with my first and second fingers. I also could not get the tab in the proper orientation. The tab needs to be facing away from my leg and needs to be parallel with the same leg. I could not get a good hold on the tab without fumbling. Nice try guys.

Kyle, what are you refering to when you are talking about a butterfly clip? Maybe I have seen one, but know it buy another name.

A butterfly clip are large clips used at statiionary stores to hold papers together. They are made of wire and look like it has wings on it. It is flat on the top and then comes down to form two triangles of wire. Not sure if it would work, but I have modified a lot of clips to suit my needs based on this butterfly clip principle.

You could attach a safety pin to the top flat edge and spray paint the entire thing flat black. This should allow you to get the orientation the way you want it.

Sounds like you may need to make a "C" bracket, and Velcro or solder Safety Pins to this for attachment to your trousers. The placement would be more on your "Butt", so your hand would turn up at the wrist to take hold of the device. You would remain faced toward the audience to secure the streamer.

The chest steal could be used with some thought, a turn to the right or left could make the steal easily.

Hope this helps, I am surprised that the gimmick did not come with a holder. Viking is usually an excellent manufacture of such items.

Remember Beepers? Before cell phones? Well, there used to be mini beepers. The belt clip used to hold it is the perfect size for the large Kabuki Streamers.

No kidding Salazar, I would have never thought. I think yours is the best suggestion so far.

I just dug out my old beeper holder and it's perfect! Much better than the holder I fashioned out of a card box. Thanks Salazar.

Also try Bankers' clasps. They are available at most office supply stores. Basically it is a piece of metal folded over that has a pretty strong hold. They last forever and are inexpensive. I found so many uses for them.

Good idea zaubern!

Stick this to a safety pin with a piece of tape and it makes a great holder!

Yep, I love these things. I have seen them sold as "magic utility holders" for about 30 bucks a piece. Ha. Get two for like 3 bucks at your local office supply store. I can't say enough good things about these. I use them for everything. Another idea which would eliminate the need for tape and safety pin is just put the clip over your inside jacket pocket or back pants pocket and clipping the streamer or whatever your using between it. Depending on the location of the load this may or may not work....just an idea.

Mini magnets taped to the outside of the packet will stick it to a thin metal plate affixed to your jacket.

This is what I do with the Kabuki streamers. I break the red paper that holds them closed. I punch 2 holes right underneath the little rod. Then I take a piece of very thin wire & run it through each hole, to form a "C" or "D" that I can get my thumb through. Then I take a thin strip of napkin and replace the broken red paper from earlier.
It is much easier to hang the load, plus with my thumb inside the wire, it is easier to throw. The napkin is very easy to break. I've been doing this for almost 20 years and it's worth the extra 5 minutes to prepare the packet.
