So a little while ago I bought a Copper/Silver Morgan/5 rupee. The thing is, the Morgan was made soft and looks completely different from my Morgans. Not the biggest problem, I can make my coins soft (through a tutorial on youtube that was posted on this site). I'm looking to buy an expanded shell though and from the image it looks like it is not soft. Should I just do the same thing to the shell? (This would require me revealing to my brother (who would be making the coins soft) about the shell. This isn't that big of a deal to me, but I don't like doing it)

You might be able to trade your morgan coins for soft ones at a local coin shop.
That's what I did back in Boulder CO. Showed the coin dude what I had, told him what I wanted, and he let me go through the huge box of morgans in the back room. found the ones I wanted and did an even exchange, I even offered him $5.00US for the favor he declined. Now, as to your [ not sure what you can do about it, unless your ask the maker for a soft [ or have him make one for you to match your c/s. |

Mr. Tango prefers to do this (if you ever decide you want a morgan TUC). I am fairly sure that Mark Mason will work with your coins as well (JBTVUSA). In addition, I think many of the better manufacturers would be willing to send you pictures of what you would be buying to see if it will match your coins. It doesn't hurt to ask. I am fairly certain Mark Mason would do this for you and you could try Roy Kueppers, also. I personally like the natural look that comes from age and wear (as opposed to the chemically altered softening or the bleached look), but to each his own. Alan |
