I was thrilled to learn from Roberto today, in an email, that he will be releasing a hardbound version of his Deck Switch book through Stephen Minch and Hermetic Press early next year.

That will certainly be something to look out for.

Does anyone have a set of Roberto's lecture notes on Deck Switches from the Genii Bash for sale?

First I've heard of the project. Is it just a compilation of what he had published in Genii over the last little while?

No, I don't believe so.

What will the content of the book be - will it be specific deck switches, the psychology of switches, tricks with switches built in, tricks reliant on switches, etc.?

I've seen a description of the contents on a major auction site:
############## Book with 91 deck switches, with sections on: Terminology and Structure of The Deck Switch Categories of Deck Switches Keeping Decks Apart Grips on Cold Deck Body Hold-outs Delayed Performance How To Prepare A Sealed Deck ######### I don't know how well this corresponds to chapters, etc. Since Mr. Giobbi was selling copies at the Genii Bash, I'm surprised how long this is taking to come to market (I'm told he had the copies printed and bound in the USA, after arriving here). Since he's releasing his book "Confidences" in Dec. (I have my copy on order!), perhaps he doesn't want to have too many new books on the market at once. Larry S. |

This was part of an email I received from Roberto regarding the book:
Genii Convention & Deck Switch Book It was a pleasure to meet many of you at the Genii Convention in Orlando, which was truly exceptional as you will have heard. I gave a 90 minute lecture on the topic of the deck switch, which I’m told pleased quite a few. Since it is no longer possible to carry heavy luggage (unless you book business class or pay a high fee), I had to print the seminar book on site and misjudged the high request – I only printed 100 copies which sold out in a few minutes. I apologize to all of you who couldn’t get a copy of The Deck Switch Book, BUT I have very good news: Stephen Minch of Hermetic Press saw my lecture and the book – he was so enthusiastic about both that he immediately offered to do a proper book out of it which he promised would be out by February 2013. It will be a beautiful book as you’ve come to expect from Hermetic Press, plus have the expert editing of Stephen Minch, who arguably is the top writer and editor in our business. We will send you a very good pre-publication offer, probably in December or shortly thereafter.

I was about to point out that the table of contents posted was for the lecture notes, not the upcoming book, but I see motown beat me to it!

I must admit I've seen the contents and am looking forward to the release of this book from Roberto.

For those who've seen the manuscript, would any of the cold deck switches fly at the gaming table?

I haven't heard anything so far, there wasn't a firm release date.

I was talking with Stephen Minch the other day, and he informed me that the Deck Switch book is up next from Hermetic Press, followed by the two massive J.N. Hofzinsers books.
