Dan, I cannot find my download of the video instructions for Ritual, and the link to it online doesn't work anymore. I haven't performed it for awhile and would like to review the video. Is there any way I can get hold of it? Thanks.

Sorry to say, but the specific cord I found (which worked perfectly with the beads) is no longer readily available. So, I have discontinued manufacturing "Ritual."

So I'm going to be that guy. I've seen reference to "Grandma's necklace" or whatever, but never seen it. Having watched this video, I'm confused. To me, a guy who doesn't know what's really going on, it looks like exactly what it is: beads sliding off the ends of loops (as if they were never "locked in" in the first place, but rather having two strands pushed through then simply reversing to slide off. Like a closed loop of string pushed into a hole through the bead).
Now having said that, it's clear people enjoy it. So I assume I'm missing the setup? It must look like they're really on the necklace? On in a a no-nonsense way? Because again, it seems to me like they're just being slid off as they should be from the way they come off. I'm not being an a-hole (at least not on purpose), I'm truly trying to understand what I'm not seeing as I can't see the magic (mostly because I can "see" the magic). I'll assume user error since people have done this for years and love it. I like the look of the necklace and beads, I'd wear them for sure. So help me buy them. |

I agree Nathan. Im not sure what the get ready looks like with this, but when it comes to the eye candy visual penetration climax, I think I prefer the direct and even more visual IMO climax that you get with Grandma's Necklace. Furthermore, as someone who’s never been big on wearing jewelry I doubt I’m going to start wearing a necklace at this stage in my life.
Been very happy with TCC's latest version so I think I’ll stick with that. |

I am familiar with Dan's original "Ritual Necklace" (which used the classic method) and, in my opinion, it's far better as the beads pop directly off the center of the cords while the spectator is holding the ends. There are no dangling loops left over as is seen with this release. I've used it for over 20 years now and think it is superior. People love it. |

I agree with you guys. Not seeing anything great on this release. I must be missing something but it don’t look that good to me from what I seen from the demo??

Owning the TCC version, I wish there was a necklace version of that one where the strings weren’t furry and thick…

The metal beads version I have looks a lot better than the wooden bead version.

I also agree with all the above regarding this new release… quite disappointing, both in terms of method and prop… I would definitely have picked up the old version but this one is a pass for me…

I honestly don't understand why Dan switched from using the normal Grandma's Beads method as he used to do. The participant NEVER lets go of any of the ends and the beads pop straight off from the middle in the original. I understand that the small reset time is a minor nuisance with the original method, but it is objectively stronger nonetheless. In this new version, the participant MUST LET GO of one of the ends and then the beads are SLID DOWN AND OFF THE ENDS THAT WERE JUST RELEASED! There is absolutely no way this is better or stronger.
It has happened to me, when working on a method or plot, where I've developed a new twist in methodology and become enamored with the new idea. And it has also happened that this pride clouded my judgement and made it difficult for me to remain objective. I've gotten much better at managing that over the years. Developing a new method or wrinkle can be exhilarating, but if the new idea doesn't strengthen what already exists - or worse, detracts... then I simply don't proceed any further with it. For every great and worthwhile idea that I develop fully, there are a hundred (or more) that just don't make the cut and get left laying on the floor. As a result, my house is a complete mess. I like Dan and absolutely mean no disrespect. But I am honestly baffled trying to understand how he concluded that this new version is an improvement. I rarely weigh in with my opinion on anything at the café, but I happen to have a great fondness for the original "Ritual Necklace" with the classic method - which I have performed quite extensively for over 20 years. I'm sorry to say this, but the cons outweigh the pros by a wide margin in this case. Just my opinion. |

Sooooo... I watched the Penguin Magic promo of Ritual, and I have to say the issues brought up here are "spot on" in my opinion. If I didn't already know how good it actually is, I wouldn't buy it. I think this is a case where editing has actually hurt the effect, instead of enhanced it. I'm not sure why they chose to only show the ending (release) and skip over all of the (very important) proof that precedes it, but there it is. Taken out of context, the release of the beads looks silly. I've contacted them and I hope they fix it. Meanwhile, here's a performance from 2012 when I first started performing it... https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/z3x8ixnl4......ance.mp4

Dan, do you know if you will be bringing this out with any other designs more like the last time? Like not string and wooden beads? More like the metallic beads you had last time? I I’d like to get this but the string and wooden beads style is way off for me.
Magic is all around us we just have to be willing to see it.
