Hey folks...

I am a stage/parlour magician. I am looking to add a bit of mentalism to my act. A year or two (or perhaps even more) ago, I heard about a mentalism routine that sounded absokutely perfect for me. Unfortunately it sold before I had a chance to pick it up. I have now forgotten the name of the effect.

It had something to do with a wedding story being told, or something along those lines.

Anyone happen to know what the effect is? I weould like to revisit this and perhaps purchase it to add to my show.

Thanks in advance!

This one is solid. Well, flip of a coin solid, but still, pretty strong.

I wish I could give more details, but my memory is rather foggy. It had something to do with the strongest relationship. It was more of a story than a mentalism effect, but had some mentalism mixed in. It was supposed to be very strong.

It was supposedly very popular a few years ago...that's about all I can come up with...sorry.

You guys are the mentalists...you ought to be able to dig into my mind and find it!

Sorry...couldn't resist!

FOUND IT! It is called "Til Death Do Us Part". It just sounded like it fits my style...a storyteller.

Anyone here have any experience with it? Thoughts?

Mike,

Just remember that it's going to take work to sell this to your spectator. This isn't a "watch this" effect. You must immerse them into this story for it to fly. Treat this as a trick, it's doomed. Make it about the story, tell it as you would any good urban legend type of story as if it were fact, and let the creepiness settle in. You will sed it in their face and body language if you have buy in. Don't be in a hurry for the effect. Make that secondary to the story.

My first few dozen times doing this just didn't pass the who cares test. I had to refine in, and now I have it down where I'm guaranteed to give them a good chill of an experience.

Have fun.

I would do something else instead of Till Death Do Us Part. Really...do something else.

Thanks for all the advice, friends!

Magical Dimensions...anything in particular that you recommend. Most of my audiences are mixed kids and adults, which is why I have held off on this.

I have a hard time finding this thread because of the title. LOL

I think that doing an effect where the women and man BOTH select the same object, answer, or word may be a good way of showing that they were met to be together. Since they selected the same thing, proves that they are connect in mind and soul.

Remember this; if you are doing a Magic act and all of a sudden start doing a mentalism routine, the chances are that it will be looked upon as just another magic trick. I think that you will suffer in the routine if you try to play it as a real mentalism or psychic effect. I won’t play it to serious but more as a fun routine.
