Ahh, remember my old hippy days on Crabapple commune in Shrewsbury! Actually... it was real hard work and everyone was so goddam hairy!
But I digress. Have a look at my sig here to get the latest news on The Hedge Tarote, and other things magical. But in case you missed it. I have decided to hand age the entire Hedge Tarote for the first batch of customers. After that I will be putting out two editions. One where the aging is left to you - you may well prefer this as you may want to write on the pages yourself and customise them. And one where I will age the Tarote. However, there are 60 or so individual pages, and three processes on each page, so this is very time consuming, along with the drying times involved. Also, the aging on the 'Book of Air' that accompanies the Tarot. So this will be reflected in the price. You can see here, that even with the help from my pussy (whose name is Mrs Slocombe btw)this is a daunting task... There are now 4 left in the first batch. So if you want this service for free, you better get on there quick! One last thing, all other orders are now on their way, if you ordered in the last day or two, they will be in the post in the morning, so you should be finding these on your doormat soon. I simply cannot wait for the reaction when you open this one! ....and as for the reaction a few months down the line when it has all sunk in! Now to work on the second part of the Hedge Tarot, that which reflects the so called Major Arcana.

On 2012-11-04 22:08, Mind illusionist wrote: You do not. Let me explain. The tarot's occult connections go back to Antoine Court de Gébelin in the late 18th centurary. Before that history tells us that there is no evidence of the Tarots use for anything else than a gambling game. However, things are more complex than that. For a start, gambling games with their premice of chance and the manipulation of fate have always had occult connections, especially at a time when the Christain church held sway over a rule of terror that culminated in the mass murder of the witch trails. Not a good time to openly talk about something that had not been given the Church's blessing. Fortune telling and other occult practices are more closely linked to ordinary playing cards, within this we have the key. The tarot is in fact *two* distinct packs of cards that came together for the purposes of gambling. The mechanism of the game of tarocchi needed some trump cards ( cards that would 'triumph' over the hands dealt from the ordinary playing cards), thus we have the idea of the 'day to day' matters being expressed in the minor arcana with the idea of the real deep, mystical stuff being in the major arcana. This is quite erroneous. The origins of the 'major' arcana do not originate in ancient Egypt as the less scholarly texts would have it. This now popular misconception originated with de Gébelin and was nurtured in the various secret occult 'Gentlemen's clubs' of Victorian England (predominantly). The first record of the trump cards emerging is as a series of moral lessons for late medieval Italian children. In fact, there is no great system or 'procession' of the 'fool's journey' this is all fiction, and recent fiction at that. There were many variants of these cards in circulation. Most of these reflected contemporary Christian values and edicts, rather than some great occult knowledge from the ancient world. However, the humble playing cards * do* contain an ancient system. One that, as we know, links closely to the celestial calendar. So in my understanding, it is the 52 card system that remains to this day as the number and arrangements of cards of a common deck of poker cards that hold any occult knowledge, and it is this knowledge that I am in pursuit of. The hedge tarot is the key to this. The outer clothing of the Hedge Tarot is that of a magical routine, something that goes far beyond what we expect from a magic 'trick', but a performance piece, non the less. however, it is also a tool for esoteric research as will be revealed in subsequent work. It is a series of gateways to worlds that I believe to be genuinely exist, but not in a form that we would readily acknowledge we're we to look at it from a western reductionist perspective (which is why this ain't gonna sell too well to mentalists!). So what I am trying to say in my traditionally rambling way is that the entire coherent system is contained in the hedge tarot, as it stands. The so-called major arcana is very much a later addition that has a gambling, rather than an esoteric origin. Having said that, I did stumble across the good Dr Todd in one of these portals... coincidence? We had something of a conversation regarding this matter. So, we *will* be working on the 'major' book at some point, as it seems that interest in the Hedge Tarot is high enough to justify such a project. However, it will be presented in its original context - none of this 'namby pamby' death actually does not mean death, it's actually quite a good card and can mean a change for the better'...... I mean...... Good grief! Incidentally, there will also be two further books that deepen the meaning of the Hedge Tarot. The 'Libra Arum' explores the idea of presenting the Hedge Tarote as a performance piece. The two books that follow; 'The Libra Acqua' and the 'Libra Fuoco' will go deeper into these more esoteric mysteries. ....sorry about the cat distraction!
