This from the Magic Circle website this morning:

It is with great sadness and regret that I have to inform Members that our former President, Alan Shaxon MIMC, passed away in the early hours of this morning.
Alan will be remembered for his warmth, integrity and above all, his inspirational professionalism.
I am sure all Members of The Society will join me and the Council of The Magic Circle in sending our deepest sympathy and affection to his wife Anne and his family.
Jack Delvin MIMC
President of The Magic Circle

A very sad loss to the magic community

Sad to hear the news.

Mr. Shaxon was a headliner at the IBM National Convention in Cleveland awhile back.

I was lucky enough to be called on stage to "assist" him for his bill in orange routine.

A Classy looking and acting performer.

I was lucky to have met Alan many times over the past 40 years or so, and every occasion he was the utter gent,
The last time I had the pleasere off meeting Alan Shaxton was at thre SEMC convention in Bournemouth Jan 2012,
and was looking forward to working with him again at the 2013 SEMC in Jan 2013,
The sad loss of Alan is a sad day for magic worldwide, my thoughts now are with his family.

Alan Shaxon was not only a fantastic magician and an inspiration to those that met him; he was also a true gentleman. He encouraged me as a newbie over 25 years ago and he remained supportive ever after. My sincere condolences to Anne and all at The Magic Circle who will feel this loss tremendously.
