I have had for a while the red/yellow color changing sponges. My problem with them is that because you need to make them wet to perform properly, the red color has "leaked" a little bit to the yellow side and it doesn't look good anymore. I did not even use the ball that much.

Has anybody had similar problems or did I just s*#€w it up myself by making the balls once too wet? And how about the other color alternatives?

They don't have to be very wet.

Actually, I have the red/yellow-version, too and I never had any problems with it. But I never made it really wet, but more just a bit moist - just enough to get the crinkles out.

Try soaking soap in the water before putting your sponges in it and pressing them as tight as you can

I experienced the same problem.
It does not happen as easily with the green/red ball.

The colors do not run unless you store them wet next to another spongeball of contrasting color. Also don’t use hot water to get them wet. I have NEVER had a problem and I use multiples in my act all the time.

I have exact the same problem with spongeballs, when I do the effect 'Magic of sphere'(Jay Scott Berry). Four different color balls and the spongeballs will all change! There is not a really solution.

I have self find out:
I wash the bals with whiten/bleach (like my mother does by new t-shirts) and it helps. The red, blue en green ball shet a lot! The colors of the ball still be strong, but they smell a bit. Then I use just dish soap for the smell.
My solution helps for a while, but it doesn't prevent the problem.
I have an Final that ruin all the spongeballs! So I have balls for practise and balls for perfomance!

This may not be everyone's problem, but make sure you are using cold water when dampening your balls (this is especially important with Bizzaro's color changing ball). warm to hot water makes the balls transfer color more quickly. Lawrence has a good point, when working with regular balls, make sure you soak and squeeze a couple of times, as it helps get the "loose" color out before you are putting the balls next to each other; I'm not sure I can recommend that as much for the color changing sponge ball, due to it's construction.

I hope this helps!
