I'm just about to catch a couple hours sleep before my flight home. David, whom it was a pleasure to finally meet in person, hit many of the highlights. But one of the coolest and weirdest things I saw was a completely outside-the-box PK thing Paul Shirley did in the elevator. I don't want to say too much about it, but I think he's going to post a video, and I suspect a lot of people will be talking about it. It looked so cool that I'm not even begrudging the fact that he didn't tell me how he did it.
More later when I'm marginally more coherent.
Every problem contains the seeds of its own solution. Unfortunately every problem also contains the seeds of an infinite number of non-solutions, so that first part really isn't super helpful.

I had so much fun at MindVention. I met dear people whom I didn't see for ages and made some new friends.
Take a huge recommendation from me: Visit MindVention next year! David, thank you for your through review, and yes: I forgive you for misspelling my name completely. :) Roy Zaltsman |

You are too kind, Ron. Seriously -- the this is amazing stuff. What's great about MV is that I wasn't familiar with Zaltsman's work...but his lecture was one of the highlights of the whole three days. Funny, relatively simple to do...great thinking.
I also missed mentioning Satori's ASTOUNDING "I'm not sure what it was...but it was very cool and heavily discussed in the pub afterward" routine. No one knew how he accomplished this. Think about it: the guy had dough on his eyes, cotton and bandages over that...with none of the conventional...umm...methods of seeing available to him. He stood with his back to chalkboards and read 20+ strings of numbers and he wasn't looking up or down...and if he had been it still wouldn't have helped. Watching this was like peeking back into time. Gentler gentlemanly mentalism. It was a beautiful thing. Elegant. A little information: I'm told that Bob Cassidy is going to be a guest of honor next year. He'll receive lifetime achievement award. Danny said they are also considering a mentalism competition...and he DID announce the dates...but at the end of three days here I'm not completely sure. I THINK it was November 11, 12 and 13...but check the website to be sure. Sheree, my wife and partner in Magic Pendulums was the official photographer. (You guys knew she was a pro photographer as well as a downright spiffy pendulum designer, right?) She did awesome work. Have a look at her candid portraits of Colin and Satori here: http://www.facebook.com/groups/160852997......&fref=ts You can also see postings from all kinds of people. MV is a one of a kind convention. I was really blessed to be here. David

Thanks David for the feedback.
I went to Magic Live last year! It was good, but I want to go to a mentalist convention, so next year I will skip MAGIC LIVE, and go to MINDVENTION. Alex

I just got home from MV...another great time...I think David hit the nail on the head with his notes.
It was great hanging out with everyone again...especially on Tues. night! Quote:

I know the method on this, but everyone who guessed at the method after watching the video was way off! Paul Shirley is also collaborating with my buddy Ran Pink on a revised version of Think Pink...called "Thinking Pink" ... this is something I LOVE to watch! Another great time...great seeing you all! |

I've seen this, Shirley showed me the length of his needle in his pants, and boy was I impressed!
I asked him to do a PK touch with it on me, and to this day I have a smile on my face when I think about it.... His mum would never approve. Kam

I great big thanks to Danny and Bob for running another great MindVention. I think this was one of the best out of the 5 I have attended. Much credit to Danny to always, and I mean always, getting the show started exactly on time. This shows a great deal of respect for the performers. What great leadership to put such talent together. See you next year for sure.

My I be amongst the first to congratulate that man Shirley for moving from one area of professional entertainment (which he's b.l.o.o.d.y good at by the way) into the pro circuit for sneaky stuff. 'Bout time too young man!
