Thanks so much for the kind words, everyone! I did "dumb" the snowstorm trick down for myself. The way I see it, the audience doesn't know what's coming so there's no real need to do some big secret move. Though if you already perform the effect, there's no reason why you can't substitute your current method.

Less sleight-of-hand, more real magic. I'm all for that.

The episode was fantastic! The production quality was amazing! I agree that these episodes have a significant potential monetary value, but I think charging for them would loose part of their charm. While I watch the episodes, I find I am asking myself "who does something this good for free?" I then am a bit jealous I did not come up with such a clever idea, because the episodes will be around forever and the good will is always there as well. If you can afford to continue to produce such clever and well produced episodes for free, I think it would be wonderful. If you do, I hope that it springboards another venture that is even more financialy rewarding than what you would have earned by selling these episodes. That would be really cool.

Chris, thank you!! You clearly love magic and want to share your talents and insights with us who likewise love magic and performing for children. Again, thank you so very much.

Thanks Charlie and Marno. It is nice to think that these videos will be around for a long time to inspire others. That's why the magic Café has been such a great asset to all of us as well. I'm hoping as time goes on I can figure out how to make the videos more of a dialogue between all of us as opposed to a "lecture." If anyone has any ideas please let me know.
Also, I'm beginning to upload the Christmas Special onto YouTube without the "magician talk" parts, so I can share it with family and friends on Facebook. If anyone is interested in sharing them also, the link to part one is ... http://youtu.be/h6ivBvV45pg Glad to hear everyone is enjoying this episode. And happy early turkey day. -Christopher |

I performed Christopher's snowstorm story routine yesterday at a local school. The response was fantastic - and the parents were astonished that I still "had the kids in the palm of my hand" after 90 minutes. After a very noisy and rambunctious show, the kids were hushed and totally attentive to the story. A really lovely way to end my Christmas show, not only the simplest snowstorm ever, but probably the best too! It just goes to show that a bit of imagination can mean an effect for which some pay thousands of dollars, can be accomplished for less than $10. Just a (breakaway) fan, and a snowstorm. Thank you SO much, Christopher, for your permission to use this.
I videoed the show, and will post some clips asap. One other idea of Christopher's I used was having Axtell's "Off the Meter" as a "naughty or nice" meter. This was a double-edged sword: the kids loved it, but a little too much. EVERY child wanted to be "read" by the meter.....at the end of the show, I had about 150 kids swarm around the stage, begging to be checked to see how good they've been this year! Christopher's ideas are simply wonderful, and exceptionally creative. Potty |

Hey Dynamike, I'm not sure how I missed your message, but I hope you have a great Christmas too. I've learned so much from your posts over the years, so I'm glad I could return the favor.
And Potty, I can't wait to see the videos! I'm actually really excited to see the Naughty And Nice tester since it wasn't a full fledged routine. Just an idea. So I can't wait to see what you've done with it. Merry Christmas everyone. I'll get the next video out sometime in the new year. - Christopher |

Hello all agian thank you Chris for sharing the routines with us. I also put a routine in my show. I changed in a tad bit but mostly your idea. I have tgwo kids oin stage one kid has red silk and other has white. I go about the business with putting the silks into a christmas gift bag and with the magic word.... the silks change places. THe kids know how this was done so I perform again but this time the silks have vanished and turned into candy canes for all the kids. Hope you enjoy!!

The clips from yesterday's show are at the bottom of this page: http://www.pottythepirate.com/#/christmas/4533711171
Christopher's story routine is in full, at the end of Act 2. The other bits are really only short snippets, to keep the vids fairly brief. Sorry, Chris, but the "Off the Meter" bits nearly all happened off-camera, and the bit on stage wasn't useable. Thanks again for the great routine, I've credited you with it at the end of the video. Hey Christopher,
When are you getting you own TV show on Nickeloden? Great job man I still can't figure out why on earth you are doing all this for free? Really I don't know any other industry that a person works so hard and buys so much materiual but get paid so little than Kids magicians. Again thanks! |

Potty, I loved it! it'a amazing how the kids paid attention after clearly a ton of rambunctiousness. I'm glad you're having a great time with the routine.
Joe, that's a great idea about the candy canes finale. I'm doing a show for a rather young audience that might be too young to understand the mistletoe joke. I might try the candy canes instead. And Kevin, from your lips to god's ears. And if you know anybody at Nickelodeon, their ears too. - Christopher |

I was a bit under the weather when I performed - so it's really not me at my best. If I get a chance to re-film this season, I certainly will. No doubt the routine will get much improved over the next couple of weeks!

Great job Potty. The clips worked great in IE, but not in Google Chrome.

Potty I enjoyed the way you projected the story but the actual fanning and snow production was awful and more of a light shower than a storm.

Chris,
I do a s****h with the bags behind my table when I get the candy cane nesting wands. Very easy. I went to BJ'S and got a box of 280 canes for cheap. Great give away Joe |

I also used the Off The Meter today as a Naughty or Nice meter. It worked great. I didn't want to single out one kid at a time so I said lets see if the boys or the girls are more nice. Boys got to a number 6 and the girls got to a 7. I then said lets see if the parents are naughty or nice. The parents got to a number 2. I then tried to get all the boys and girls together to be nice, and as they yelled as you can imagine we got to a number 10 and we broke the meter.
Thanks Chris for some great thoughts. Joe |
