Justin has a lot of clever ideas in coin magic, cards and closeup as well...Quite a worker and magic creator he's been, lucky for us.
I remember when I first started playing with Silver Dream, I thought that if I could just learn this effect well, I wouldn't need any other coin trick. It was that good to me and magically beautiful...Perfect, even. I still think it's quite a great effect, and would encourage others to study it. The moves are killer slick and it's so much more than just the regular sorta coin trick. It also helped me to get better in coin magic and to become quite proficient at s******g, something everyone should learn IMHO. I have'ta say, Silver Dream greatly inspired me then as it seems to continue inspiring so many others today, and that's a good thing.

I actually accidentally learned of this effect by Justin Miller. I was watching a Wizard review of Geiser's The Prodigy, which Craig rightfully slammed due to horrible angle problems. This is another of those video "VIDEO LOOKS-GREAT, BUT STINKS-in the real world, one-hit-wonders.
Craig suprisingly said, don't waste your time on this, just go out and get Justin Miller's Silver Dream. I did it. Wow. If you ever wanted to have the ultimate multiple coin vanish, using sl===ving, but not looking like it at all, this has to be the Gold Standard. It takes work, yes, but how else can you do an impromptu unbelievable and angle proof vanish and reproduction of 3 coins, where you show YOUR HANDS TOTALLY CLEAN. THERE ARE NO TRICK COINS OUT THERE THAT CAN DO THIS. So if you don't have this effect--Justin Miller's Silver Dreams, watch the video and buy it. It is as good as gold, will take some work, but is something you can use all the time. This is so different from so many deceptive "video wonder" tricks which end up in a drawer or the trash (sometimes the second is the best option). Kudos to you Justin Miller, you are truly a great inventor and innovator. You have perfected sl==ving from being a quirky move to looking absolutely miraculous. Thanks. |

Wow, my first thought upon seeing this is it must be some sort of gimmick like the super triple coin - the sleeving was completely undetectable!

Looks good. I remember seeing his videos on the Magic video Depot they were inspiring some nice coin moves and you can see the evolution of them in to this routine. Also my favorite of Justin Millers.

Just an idea, if anyone is interested in Silver Dream. Instead of buying the Silver Dream DVD,
you can buy Strolling Hands Vol. 2 DVD by Justin Miller. this has Silver Dreams, by another name, along with other tricks. Penguin carries it. What's wrong with saving money and getting more magic? |

This routine is essentially the same as Homer Liwag's version 2 on his DVD entitled, Coin Two. Since Homer's Coin Two is sold out, Justin's DVDs are the source to go to for this tutorial.
I prefer Homer's version (the structure), but no one performs this routine better than Justin Miller.
To see a difficult thing lightly handled gives the impression of the impossible.

I don't do much coin work. Is this accessible for someone that doesn't know coin sleights? I can do a basic RV and a p@lm. I'd like to learn this if no other coin work just because it looks so awesome.
And do you end clean? Like can you go into other effects or will you have coins falling out your sl33v3? lol Thanks

You could hardly ask for a better effect to buy and work on. It isn't so difficult--it only takes some practice, and you have the cleanest,
most impossible vanish of three coins out there. As for the ending, you end clean, with nothing in your hands at all. But you might have to "rerout" two coins (which would be easy and hidden) and reach in your pockets for something else. So you end cleaner than any miraculous coin vanish out there.. I apologize--I cannot say any more without going too far. My only regret is that I didn't have this years ago. It is something you can use all the time. You can do a vanish of one, two or three coins, wherever you are and whenever you want. Now, remember. An equally GREAT PART OF THIS EFFECT IS JUSTIN'S TEACHING. If you could meet with one of the greatest magicians in the world, who happened to be perhaps the best (or one of the best) teacher(s), teaching you one of the best effects ever, how much would this be worth? Also, that this is one of the most usable and miraculous close up effects out there. I could be wrong, but when you get it and practice it, your only regret will be that you didn't have this sooner. I give it a 12 out of ten. It is that good, and he should charge way more for it. |

But to me, this is not a beginner effect. There is a lot going on that it would be best to be somewhat proficient at starting out. It's not "Ponta The Smith/Sick" hard, but think of the difference between Silver Dream and let's say, Gadabout Coins. Very different effects, as one is more a beginner/maybe intermediate trick and the other is clearly intermediate/advanced. The Sick DVD would be mostly advanced stuff. Could you learn it??? Absolutely with some diligence and good handle on the sleights necessary, which do take some good practice. But it is truly a beautiful routine to work on and to master. If you can come to do this pretty well, then you can do most things well-enough in coin magic, IMHO. I see you have a jacket on so you're on the right road already. Vampiro calls it about right here as to the overall magnificence of the effect. Just beautiful to watch and do. It's a bit of a mountain full for a beginner or someone just passing through to me, but mountains are meant to be climbed. It's a good journey, that's for sure.

Thanks for your input mb217. I definitely respect your opinion as I know from your posts that you do lots of coin magic. Maybe I should invest in Bobo finally so I can learn some other effects as I study this- as a way to prevent discouragement? I have never really been interested in coin magic except for S&S, but I've been wanting to explore it lately just to become a more well-rounded magician; able to do something with anything.
Just thinking out loud here. Thanks again for the opinions all. I like the idea of mountain climbing, I'll never get bored if I'm challenged and magic is for life so there's plenty of time. :spinningcoin:
