I just got this in a bundle and there isn't any of the "special" chalk. Anyone know where to find it?
The slates are in pristine shape. |

I recently bought some vintage "visible slate writing" chalk made by Abbotts years ago. The Directions were incomplete and not helpfull at all.
From what I understand on another thread from a few years back the book, "MODEREN CHEMICAL MAGIC" has all the info on the chalk and chemicals. Once I get the book I will report back on my findings. |

Docc just got or is getting married... so that might be the reason for the delay... did you purchase the slates directly from him?

I have some from back in the 60's I sent for free to someone who needed it. If you pay shipping I would be happy to send it to you as I don't use it.
Cheers Kyle. PM me. |

Read Burling Hull. It's in "World of Mentalism." You can make it yourself, but I would double the amount of gum arabic given the quality of most available chalk these days. Just my 2¢....

Docc just took some time from his honeymoon to make a special (and very informative) cameo appearance, with his lovely new bride in attendance, at MindVention last week in Vegas. So he may be a little too busy to answer emails right now.

I saw a post from Docc on another board that he is moving to a Island in the Bahammas with his new wife.
Thanks for the info on chemical magic and Burling Hull. I hope to take Kyle up on his offer. Tom |

Hi there.
I don't supply the chalk separately. For the very reasons underlying here. People who buy the slates from me can get the chalk. It's only available when I have it and only to original purchasers. And BTW, I supply more than you will ever need in a lifetime. I've used one piece for over 3 years! When people resell the slates or try to make their own, I can't sell the gimmick separately. It's the same with most special equiptment in metalism. And good luck trying to make the chalk with Hull's instructions. If you do as suggested and double gum arabic you will have a rock! The formula we use is updated and special chalk is made from scratch. Why not buy from the creator? Peace, Docc |

I did buy one at magic in the Rockies (2 yrs ago) after watching you do it on stage, and have moved 2x since then and don't know where the heck the chalk is. I think it got thrown out by my evil ex-girlfriend as she threw away half of my magic.. That was a bad day for me.. Lost lots of stuff.

That's pretty shallow if you ask me. Shame.... And this, "When people resell the slates or try to make their own, I can't sell the gimmick separately. Oh well, guess he only wants limited business...
