Sad to report that today we lost Bill Brewe, one of the most knowledgable men in magic I have ever known. Bill was well known for his expertise on silks (and everything else, for that matter) as well as his kind and generous spirit. Bill was always the first guy to help someone who needed it. He knew everyone, and more than once he pulled me out of a jam by putting me in contact with the right person. We'll miss you Bill!

Bill was a dear, dear friend. We spent many many hours together talking magic. He was a fixture at the Magi Fest and Abbott for many years. Bill made wonderful silks. When we did (Marshall business and Brewe) did the dealer show at MagiFest, we always did a small show performance instead of the usual pitch oriented show.
He started many professionals on their careers. Guys like Bill Cummins, Maverick, Paul Adams, Dale Scott and others were all part of the Brewe boys that competed at Magi Fest and Abbott's year after year. He loved Blackstone, especially Senior. He could tell you the littlest detail of their performances and differences in them. When he got tired of the politics in county goverment, he quit his role as an attorney and opened an old time magic shop. It was not only a shop but a home to many who loved magic. With a small stage, shows were given many times. I can still close my eyes and see the wonderful cases filled with magic and Bill there smiling. He was a big part of the Abbott family. His health had prevented him from coming in recent years but he has never been unmentioned during the Get Together. Rest in Peace dear friend. I know you are catching up Blackstone, Mac Birch, S. S. Henry and so many others you loved to talk about. Richard

Bill was a major mentor to me as well.
We both loved bizarrism, and would trade ideas for "Cthulian" effects. The man was brilliant, quirky and, like Orson Welles, could pitch the most outlandish story at you and make it seem believable for the duration. I think I'll miss him more than any magician I've ever known.
