Why move along? We're only comparing products. Fair enough for a new release?

I started shipping out the first units yesterday. I am spending today getting a whole lot more ready for shipping tomorrow.

They will be in customers' hands in a few days, so correct feedback and comparison will be available shortly.

Thanks again,
Richard

I placed my order, too. I use Richard's Stainless Steel Blindfold 100 times or so per year in professional shows ever since I bought it. The craftsmanship of the Whispering Die Box looks wonderful and I can't believe the price is so reasonable. I expected a much higher price when I saw the pic. I also LOVE Richard's poo-pooing of supposed "dogma" of mentalism, ie, no prepared-looking props. I've always held the belief that those who insist on only one way of doing things are definitely leaving a lot of good ideas on the table. I'm looking forward to this very much.

Really looking forward to this. Always love great magic creations that can travel in pocket and are made using wood. Soon as I saw this new release listed @ Richard's web, I ordered immediately. Didn't see this thread until now and it appears many others are just as excited. Looks great!

When I was starting out in magic, Tannen's was my hangout. Pocket tricks were a very popular category and I used to love them. It's just fun to have something in your pocket you can easily carry around and have ready to go anywhere.

My childhood memory of Tannen's was leafing through their massive hardcovered catalogs and just dreaming of all the wonderous miracles being advertised. It must have been really cool to be AT Tannen's.Smile

Cris,

I still have 4 of those old catalogs and love looking through them to bring back memories. The store in Times Square was wonderful and it was normal for the guys to demonstrate most tricks. And, of course, the top names used to stop in all the time. You never knew who you might run into.

Richard,

I can only imagine how wonderful that was for you! We used to have a great brick-n-mortar magic shop near where I live in Niagara Falls. Everyone behind the counter was a superb magician and could demonstrate anything. A GREAT way to decide whether to buy something. Videos are great, but nothing beats the live experience.

Just received my WD and absolutely LOVE it. I have the electronic version as well and use it quite often. Always been happy with it, BUT have had some sweaty-palmed electronic issues in the past. Clearly, there's no such problem here. It's a beautiful piece and will immediately be going into my trade show work. The method is simple and allows all the emphasis to be placed on performance. Thanks Richard for yet another great contribution to the fraternity. HAPPY THANKSGIVING ....

Thank you so much and I'm glad you like it.

And Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! We are enjoying it with my whole family over at my house.

Wonderful to receive in my mailbox today!

Beautiful simplicity in its workings/method, and have already tried out multiple times today (yes, need to develop a routine, but very curious as to its impact...)

Love the response I've been getting...a lot of nervous laughter with comments of "That's impossible!" [part of the beauty is that it doesn't look like a prop; can be fully examined; not difficult so can focus on showmanship; etc.]

Agree with Richard that this is something you'll carry around and use regularly (and not worry about batteries running low!)

Mine arrived today, and I love it. It's a very pretty little box, well made, and works like a dream.

I don't post here much anymore, but I do read from time to time and I noticed this thread.

I am also a fan of Osterlind products. Richard, Jim, and the gang do really fine work, I own a few of their pieces and use them!

This Whispering Die is no different. Since receiving it I've performed it over 20 times with 100% accuracy!

I'll admit I didn't know how this effect worked when I purchased it, so when it arrived I pulled it out of the packaging and tried working it out without watching the accompanying DVD. Given time I'm certain I would've cracked it, but after a couple of minutes of skeptical observation with no clear answers, I gave up and watched the DVD.

As a Psychic Entertainer those close to me are my most powerful/vocal/annoying skeptics and I like to run everything by them first since I don't like to perform anything that's easily decipherable. I'm happy to report that my team couldn't figure out the deep mystery of the Whispering Die!

Then again, what's to figure out?

When you connect with someone's energy field, you can read their mind without much effort. In this case the sound of the die rattling in the box drops me into an instant trance and directly with my subject's thoughts, causing the chosen number on the die to pop into my consciousness like a hologram. It's powerful! As a backup tool, I use my quantum environment to manifest a specific die number even before the subject makes their choice. This is explained quite simply, everything is energy, so when you match the frequency of the reality you want, you cannot help but get that reality, it can be no other way. This is not philosophy btw, this is physics!

Richard mentions using a rubber band during the third phase of this. I tried using a bag a few times, a black velvet tarot bag to be exact. It worked well. They place the die in the box, you take the box and hand them the bag, you drop the box in the bag and have them rattle it next to your ear for a spell. BAM! Correct again!

I have some casino dice here and tried the effect with both a red one and a blue one. The blue one looks nice with the box, the red one not so much, it kind of clashes visually. An amber die may look nice with box, try it out. The white casino die that comes with the set really is the best choice in terms of look.

As a little extra bit in my presentation, I dish out some numerological information before revealing the number to the subject. Sure the die only goes up to 6, but to me there's a reason why subjects chose the numbers they do.

Whispering Die - 4 out of 5 stars - Only because I didn't come up with it myself.

And that is true! I am just quite into that material, and it helps a lot to understand how life works.

KIKI, it makes the effect work that much easier, that's for sure!

I also wanted to add that I like to call the box, an "old pill box".

For this experiment I had to find an old pill box that I could hide a die into ..."

This to me logically brings these two separate things together nicely. No need to mention anything of course, just sayin'.

I only had one objection to this, my better half said a pill box would have a latch on it, but no one else has bothered or cared.

Last night I added a impromptu kicker a Swami friend suggested to me. After the first phase, I pulled a card out of my pocket that read:

The Subject Will
Place The Die With
The Number 2 Face Up

It's not necessary, but why not have an additional bit of fun from time to time?

This box reminds me of those wish boxes. My girlfriend got me one on her vacation, the instruction inside was to slip a wish inside on a slip of paper and put the wooden box under your pillow. Something you can revolve a presentation around.

Thank you for all of the excellent reviews. I have an insatiable weakness for effects as such and have collected virtually every rendition I have run across. Countless versions of Martin Sunshine's Color Vision in various materials, Crazy Cube, Die Cipher (brass and stainless steel), Tenyo's Diabolicus, Mental Die, etc. and the list goes on and on and on. So organic in nature yet baffling, charming and appealing to the sense of wonder. I just discovered that this was available and am placing my order right now.
