I'm considering going to this. With Josh and Andi at the helm, I don't doubt it will be great. They have wonderful performers scheduled. My big issue is getting there. I am not crazy about driving 8 hours in January. I was hoping to take a train but I discoverd that even though it is the state capitol, and the largest city in Ohio, Amtrak does not stop there. I've also heard that the airport is nowhere near the hotel. Wondering if any friends from the PA/NJ area are going and might want to carpool?

Pepka, driving to Columbus in January is the exact reason I've never made the trip before. I am planning on attending this year but I am going to fly. Mainly because my plane ticket and rental car is free (love those frequent flyer points). The hotel is about 25 miles from the airport

Perhaps considering a new date in June is a timely discussion?
After 54 years as a professional entertainer, I no longer even consider flying commercial as an option for less than 2000 miles. US airlines are just not reliable enough any more for same day events. Summer is some improvement. Also, in June school is out and family vacations can be part of the trip. There are not many magic events in June. The convention is not the problem. The problem is the place at the time. Winter in Myrtle Beach is very different from January in Ohio. I try to make it to 12-14 magic conventions a year. Travel and weather are considerations. I'll bet that I am not the Lone Ranger. As a trained economist, I see a very long four years ahead of us in keeping attendance at any kind of convention within 65% of "normal" experience for participation. We need every break we can get. Is it true? The most important part of a rain dance is TIMING. Magic conventions serve a very important function in the survival of the art. Please support their success. The flight from NJ is only about an hour and a half and I'm flying United airlines. Going early so no worries about delays. Same coming home.

I will be there, GLW! Of course, C is my hometown. I will be glad to ferret out anything about the town those of you who are coming would like to know. Bob, don't whoos out now- I have seen you there before and you looked like you had to good time!
So glad it is continuing, and hope you folks support it as Bob advised. I have to say, it has ALWAYS been a great time and bad weather, once you are there, makes it even better. At the risk of bringing the Wrath down on us, the past several years have been Al Gore years... Come on Down!!!!! Jim

Apparently I'm on the schedule this year. Looks like I'll be there in January - at least for Thursday eve and Friday - I'm flying on Saturday but FROM Columbus to another event.
Looking forward to the new feel we will create. SK
