What's the deal with the Penguin pop-ups in the lower right corner of the screen?
I posted this here because it only happens in "Latest and Greatest" and maybe one or two other sections. Is everyone having this problem or is it just me? This isn't intentional, is it? Robert |

I think it's intentional - and irritating.

Yes, it must be intentional, and yes, it is irritating.
I like and use Penguin. But still..... This is what we must put up with for a free resource. |

I understand why it is done and while I'm not a fan it is what it is.
But one thing I would like to change is to be able to delete the "Live Help" at the bottom right. When browsing from a mobile source it won't scroll with the browser window so it will actually cover up text in someone's post. It would be nice to turn that off in our preferences or the very least be able to close it from the thread. |

It looks like the live help pop up ( which I've used quite a bit to get questions answered I had about products ) has the LIVE lectures added to it as reminders of what's coming up. I just click the X button and it closes. I'm here quite a bit, so I guess I just got used to it.

I agree with Zombie, just click the X and it will kinda go away. Perhaps it is annoying to some, but I'm sure it helps bring in a lot more business to Penguin which is good marketing, and smart thinking. Maybe if it "disappeared" after a few seconds could help ease the tension? Just a thought.

Thanks for all the feedback, guys! Whether you love it or hate it, it helps to hear it
We're trying to help support Steve and the Café with advertising while raising awareness for live magic, but the last thing we want to do is irritate regulars. |

Not bothersome for me at all. I would politely suggest though, the graphic of the guy doesn't quite fit the "Penguin" profile. Perhaps a cute little magic penguin graph wouldn't bother folks as much. Because who can hate on a little penguin with a top hat and magic wand right?

When I mentioned deleting the 'live help', I really meant to be able to close the graphic from the thread (don't know if I came off correctly in my previous post). Right now with my kindle fire I'm finding myself having to rotate the display (which moves the graphic to a different spot) and scroll down to the post I was reading, and after reading that section then rotate back to my preferred view and scroll back down again. But if it would always stay at the bottom right it wouldn't be a problem. It's not the biggest deal but since the topic was started I figured I'd throw my suggestion out there. If the ability to close the graphic is implemented please make the 'X' big enough so my fat finger can press it. |

That's really insightful, Robert. Thank you. We'll try experimenting with it within the next 24 hours, I'd love to hear from you if you notice it improves your experience.

I like the way Penguin listens and responds to feedback unlike other dealers who get really defensive when criticised (or worse ask for threads to be locked - you know who I'm talking about!)

That's one of the MANY reasons why Penguin is so excellent! Thanks, Acar!

I like it. Do most my shopping from Penguin. I got a great deal today. Love the select 5.

Okay, thanks. I thought maybe I had some sort of bug or something in my computer.
I shop at Penguin, too. Their prices are low, they have a great selection, and they ship really fast. Also, where else can you actually see your order being packed for shipment? That's a really cool feature. But, this pop-up seems to be overkill. I could live with a pop-up that shows who the next Penguin lecturer is going to be, but you should be able to click on the "X" and make it disappear completely. I think in the end, this is going to turn out to be more of an annoyance than anything else. Robert |

Not for me.
I still have a "Live Product Help: ONLINE" pop-up. And, when I click it, it says: "See Doug Conn LIVE Have a question about a trick or product? We're here to help! Chat courtesy of http://www.PenguinMagic.com" Robert |

If I had to see a pop up, I'd prefer to see The Cool Box from Penguin, since the products are updated about every 24 hours or so.

Some time back everyone received a PM from Steve, telling about this new feature. If you don't read your PM's it may still be their.
This was presented as a "Help" and "Expert" contact. They will answer all your questions by their experts in magic. I guess they have a large library to consult, as this is suppose to be not just for questions on a product, but expert answers to all magic questions. I have not read a reference of anyone using it as yet, meaning no posts that Penguin gave them the answer they were looking for in their quest for additional knowledge. This is mainly in the new tricks sections like this and The Good, Bad, and the Garbage sections of the Café. It seems to have expanded to this section more recently. I am sure over time all the forum topics will have pop-up advertising, can't get away from constant advertising. Remember, you have money and they want it in their pocket and not yours. So if you have magic questions you need answered, don't bother posting on the Café, just ask Penguin Magic's Live Product Help. |
