Hi everyone !
I have a gig early december, and I'll have to perform verticaly. I mean, no table. I have some good mentalism and coin routines that can be perform without the need of a table, but if you have some CARDS routine to suggest me (even classic ones), that would help me ! Thanks ! |

Slop shuffle triumph
card to pocket twisting the aces color monte cards across one deck do as I do Those are common classics and the basics, there are tons of other routines that do not require any table at all.

Cards only?
Many acts use Cards Across as the last effect. Depending on the version there is no reset and you do not need a table. You can also perform Card To Wallet And If I might... The Invisible Deck is classic and always plays very well.

I'd recommend Oz Pearlman's "Clutch" for a card trick requiring no table. I also use a mind reading routine using 2-3 spectators that I got from Gazzo's Tossed Out Deck DVD....it doesn't use the TOD.

My entire table hopping routine could be done in the hands.
I start with a card changing in their hands (pick a card, put it back, this isn't your card but shove it into the deck and we'll find yours, oops we failed, what was it? no, that's the card your holding) idk the name of this trick but it's pretty common I think. From there into a multicard selection, you have them selected and put back. Try the top card, but it's not theirs, so you put it on their hand and then riffle the deck at it, turning it into two. I got this from a guy on youtube, to not be a complete theif I'll give him credit, his youtube name is RILEYproMAGICIAn, He did it on a table or the ground but with enough audience control you can do it right in their hands. then my ACR, ending with card to pocket. I like this set because at the beginning it gets them involved right off the bat, but then they get the moment of "this idiot doesn't know what he's doing" or "poor guy messed up" depending on the person, before you really hit them with the effect, which, though simple, is a strong one. Then it gets better with a multicard selection, people love these, and then of course the card to pocket is the big ending. And it all sort of fits together because throughout the routine it's always "the top card" even though the first two tricks you do the top card is "wrong" there's lots of other stuff. slop shuffle triumph faro triumph, which a guy named Matthew hampel has a completely in the hands version of on his DVD magically appearing card in cake from Magic Makers, he calls it "EZ Trump" and it is extremely easy. 2 card monte (requires some set up, for the perfect results, you know, black aces to red queens, but can really be done with any four random cards if you want to avoid all set up) the biddle trick you can do what I call here then there, I think david blaine did this, it's normally not impromptu but can be done impromtu with a little bit more work, I do it impromptu, PM me if you need some help with that. Wayne Houchin does the same thing and markets it as "french kiss" when the only difference is he adds the whole bit of putting it in your mouth. all of this seems like simple stuff but It's really decent magic if presented right, theres nothing wrong with simple theres a trick called 5 speed by Chris Kenner on Theory11, decently big effect, uses a gimmick but its easy to make and pretty much blends in with the deck completely, though you do have to be careful with a few things when you have it, riffle shuffles and the like, though overhand shuffles are fine, but you can palm it in and out easily. you can do multicard flourish productions if you know any of that stuff, I like pick 4 by Matthew Hampel, also on his dvd "Magically appearing card in cake" he teaches 4 really good card manipulation moves on there to go with it and it's just really nice. there's a completely impromtu torn and restored by Jay Sankey, designed for walk arround magicians, he calls it "the main attraction" it's in his DVD "Hardcore" if the venue is right you could do card to mouth, I wouldn't do it at a really fancy or corporate event or anywhere that there's food involved for obvious reasons, but for the kind of laid back everybodies friends kind of situation it would be alright. really there are countless possibilities if you think about it. also, not a card trick but you could do spongeballs, and actually, depending on the kind of event, if there's gonna be kids there I would automatically take spongeballs and a TT stuffed with a silk with me, becuase a lot of kids can't understand cards, of course the TT opens up a whole new world of possibilities, but you already knew that. you could also take ropes and do Professors nightmare, that'll fit in your back pocket and with a good routine can play pretty big. like I said, countless possibilities, I hope this has been of some help |

Every effect above is a card trick! Now, Im a card guy, but no diversity??? I can do cards for hours, and usually do...People often say do you only do card tricks..and I don't.. but 90% of the time I do, and no one says anything because they love it..
Really though, don't do just cards, unless your confidente you can pull it off. Six |

I just added Daniel Garcia's "Timeline 2.0". It plays extremely well standing up and surrounded.
