It does look nice. I just purchased The Bamboo Chest and Glass Mystery and it is a great glass of milk effect as well. Id like to have this as a follow up or alternative for back to back shows.

Sorry for the late reply guys. Only just saw the posts.
I still cannot find anyone to make this prop. I have gone through a few people and I am being messed about. I am so sorry - I really want it out there for you guys to use and enjoy but I just can't find anyone reliable to make it. I won't give up though. Angelo

I still can't believe I haven't released this trick (or Demi Deck). May I request some help please? Does anyone know of someone who makes magic out of wood and is based in the UK? A good carpenter with quality workmanship. I would so love to see these tricks out there but I am losing faith and trust as I have been messed about so much over the years.

I agree... Alan Warner of Alan Warner Magic and Colin Rose of Five-of-Hearts Magic both craft beautiful effects out of wood. I bet one of them would work with you Angelo for sure. You have an order from me on both! Good luck!

You could also get with Magic Wagon (they are not out of UK I know) but do great work. Tony Curtis of the UK has done mutual business with them on beautiful wooden magic effects. Maybe contact him and see how to go about getting it done or work with him?

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.
I had a look at some of Alan Warner's wooden products on his site. My Zig Zag Milk seems rather more complex than items he has released, so I don't know if he can help but I will certainly contact him. I know Colin Rose and he loved my Demi Deck prototype when I showed him years ago. Alas, he told me although he would love to make it (and my Zig Zag) he wouldn't be able to make a lot and keep up with the demand, especially as he has lots of products in his range that he makes. So alas he had to decline. The hunt continues...

Angelo Carbone, I can see why you are being turned down by wood craftsman. Trying to tackle making this prop out of wood. Your prototype is made out of thin cardboard. When that transferred to wood, which is 3/8 inches thick, that is where the problems come into play. Hinges or invisible hinges have to be attached, and that is near impossible on very thin wood material. You have to go with cloth hinges glued on, and that presents an cosmetic problem for purchasers.
You have to make your proto type out of the material you would sell when brought to market. Having an idea, is wonderful, but making it reality, can be very difficult. I think if you make this out of thick cardboard, say even 1/4 inch thick, you will see the problems when attempting to assemble it. I don't know inner workings, but flaps are the problem, you would have to make a shelf, like on the regular Zig Zag on the top and bottom, maybe attachable and removable. I hope you succeed, as this looks really good and puzzling. |

Very true what Bill sais - wood can be a problem, although some of the wood used in Alan Warner's creations is VERY thin ... unbelievable how 'micro size' he makes some of his tricks.
Is 3D printing perhaps an option? It wouldn't be 'real' wood, but it would look like it when a suitable material in the printer is used. Kent Bergman from https://www.3dmagicworks.com/ is always open for ideas he told me, and he uses 'wood-like' material as mentioned on his website. But he doesn't live in the U.K. unfortunately ... . Again, this effect MUST be built, it's as simple as that |

Angelo - the zig-zag milk looks awesome, perhaps offer it as a DIY kit plans at a good/high price point so jerks wont buy it and expose it?

Unless you want it to cost hundreds of dollars retail, then China is your best option. I heard they pay their workers 3 cents an hour. Don't know who is making your gold box effect, but that same person should be able to make this effect. |
