Peter Loughran, this is pure genius, truly a 21 Century prop. This reminds me of the way Tommy Wonder's Stage Act looked with his Cups and Balls routine.
Truly, Miracle Class Magic! Great innovation! |

Peter,
Now THAT is really COOL! I don't even want to think of the ridiculous amount of R&D and headaches that went into perfecting that system! The possibilities seem endless once you start to think about it. GREAT job man! Chance

Yeah I picked up right away the kid asking for help was a little jerk, did not like the whole tone of his posting. Man, rudeness starts off at an early age nowadays - maybe he and his mamma can figure out how to build the table.
Your Stealth Table is way cool Peter! Speaking of tables, a couple of years ago I designed and built from the ground up a totally mechanical one which I use in some adult shows - it combines an eight channel remote, watchwork, LED's and time delays: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqXKoXxG_N4 Chuck Caputo |

That's a work of art Peter, great video also!
Have you thought about producing a salt cellar, then a lime or lemon followed by a shot of tequila? I know that would be popular this side of the pond! Best wishes Alex

Hey What a great idea Blammo!
I actually had a tequila shot Friday night too(it's been a while), and it never occurred to me. Would you mind if I put the idea in the instructions when it goes to market? I'll be more than happy to mention your real name and give you credit for the idea to use with the table.

I think I may have had a Tequila shot last night Peter but I can't remember.
Of course you can use my idea for your instructions and I wish you every success taking it to market, wonderful apparatus! What do you mean 'real name' ? It's Alex Blamobox, one 'M' not like the illusion, I'm often confused with my good friend Trevor Dovepan for some strange reason. All the best Alex

One big secret about finishes for stage props -- DON'T make them shiny!!!!!
Why? Because you will have unwanted, distracting glare from the lights. A satin or matte finish looks much better on stage than a glossy finish. When I painted my renaissance festival props, I used exterior grade house paint. In fact, I got some of the same paint that the renaissance festival had custom mixed for their stages. It all tied in very nicely. All my large props were built with the idea in mind that at any moment, there might be a downpour. Still, the props looked very good in an actual theatre. Some of the old-timers used cloth to cover their props. Others used formica. Amazing how well both of these work.

In answer to the original question -- "What am I doing wrong?"
Answer -- trying to be a magician. Take up macrame. But don't buy anything expensive.

Great point on the flat or satin finish, Bill.
Regarding macrame, "Give a man enough rope..." Short rope, I'd say.

It's funny but the more of a challenge something is the more they need to master it.
I remember when my father demanded that I quit magic because I broke the front window with an appearing cane so just watch as this young man decides to outdue us all and he eventually wins gold. I say this because, when I was eight, I saw a magician mess-up a trick on live TV. ... I said to myself "I can do that" ... And to this day... I''m STILL making mistakes ![]()
