I don't know about anyone else but I love the motivational talks of Zig Ziglar. I listen to his cd's on a regular basis to become remotivated again!

R.I.P.

From the man himself:

1) "Every choice you make has an end result."

2) "Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four hour days."

3) "Your business is never really good or bad 'out there.' Your business is either good or bad right between your own two ears."

4) "People don't buy for logical reasons. They buy for emotional reasons."

5) "A goal properly set is halfway reached."

6) "If you want to reach a goal, you must 'see the reaching' in your own mind before you actually arrive at your goal."

7) "Remember that failure is an event, not a person. Yesterday ended last night."

8) "If you learn from defeat, you haven't really lost."

9) "If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time."

10) "If you don't see yourself as a winner, then you cannot perform as a winner."

11) "Every sale has five basic obstacles: no need, no money, no hurry, no desire, no trust."

12) "When obstacles arise, you change your direction to reach your goal; you do not change your decision to get there."

13) "You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want."

14) "Statistics suggest that when customers complain, business owners and managers ought to get excited about it. The complaining customer represents a huge opportunity for more business."

15) "Timid salesmen have skinny kids."

16) "For every sale you miss because you’re too enthusiastic, you will miss a hundred because you’re not enthusiastic enough."

17) "Stop selling. Start helping."
"Is there any point to which you would wish to draw my attention?"
"To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time."
"The dog did nothing in the night-time."
"That was the curious incident," remarked Sherlock Holmes.

18. "People often say that motivation doesn't last, Well, neither does bathing—that's why we recommend it daily."

19. "Among the things you can give and still keep are your word, a smile, and a grateful heart."

And my all time favorite:

20. "You can have anything you want in life, if you just help enough other people get what they want."

Zig inspired many and his name will be around for years to come.

I used to listen to a lot of Zig Ziglar when I was learning how to sell back in the 90's. I eventually stopped listening when I realized that the only real aim of motivational speakers was to sell you more motivational product.

I knew a sales guy who really failed late in life. He told me quite seriously one night: "I can't understand what happened. I listened to ALL the tapes."

No disrespect to the dead, but successful people don't need artificial motivation.

Yes, it wasn't artificial.

Slide I agree, it's not for everybody. Motivation is like a hat, when your head gets so big it just doesn't fit anymore. Smile

Zig would be the first to tell you that you can't really motivate other people, they must do that themselves. Motivation comes from within. Nobody can truly motivate anyone else, but when you needing guidance on finding it, who better to turn to than the master motivator himself.

Zig inspired millions. May he rest in peace.

Personally, I think these guys fleece people. Tony Robbins is just the latest in a long line of folks who live in a van down by the river.
