Pakar, I wasn't clear from the video whether you mean original as in a reboot ala Star Trek or a totally new original story.
I think it would be a huge error on Disney's part to retell the original story - episodes IV,V,VI. The Star Wars movies are far more iconic than other science fantasy franchises and even a few science fiction franchises. There is so much source material that Lucas himself has stated even before he sold the store to Disney that rebooting the franchise just wouldn't make sense. Star Trek did because Abrams successfully created a cool alternate timeline. But if Disney did that with Star Wars, I think something would be lost that is an important part of our culture. I love both Star Trek and Star Wars but I just don't see Star Wars as the best candidate for a reboot. That said, I hope you can reach Ms. Kennedy and schmooze for a part! Imagine, one of our own in a Star Wars movie!!!!! |

They're not rebooting.
They're making Episodes 7, 8 and 9.

I would imagine we'll see a new threat to the Republic and I'm betting we'll see the children of Han and Lea get involved.
(Perhaps led by Luke in the "Obi Wan" role)

They're making episodes 7, 8 and 9. Yay (sarcasm).
Episodes 1, 2 and 3 sucked and took the magic out of it and added new racist charactarizations. I don't care tht thy were his idea from the beginning, they sucked. Last I heard, every big name director they asked to do the new movies said no. Still, if anyone gets ahold of the right number I want to act in it too. How about an out of shape light saber trainer who gets thrown around by the beard (not shaving) right into some monsters mouth? That would e awesome.

Oh, I forgot to make a snide correlation between his remarks about making Star Wars movies for the next 100 years and his remarks about investing in his retirement.

Actually, it doesn't matter what you say about Lucas. He's not going to have anything to do with the new movies.
Disney bought the franchise from Lucas and now has final say. As far as 1, 2 and 3 "sucking," I disagree. They were certainly very disappointing, but they had moments. The problems with 1, 2 and 3 stem from Lucas getting too big. There was no one there who could rein him in and say; "You can write this [crap] George, but you can't say it!"

We'll just have to wait and see. The original trilogy is totally awesome and I will always love it. Episodes I,II & III were ok but think Lucas was just blinded by the possibilities of computer animation... I prefer the miniature work of the original trilogy over the CG-laden prequel trilogy any day. The core story of the prequel trilogy, Anakin sliding into the dark side and becoming Darth Vader, was fine. And Ewan McGregor was a great Obi-Wan and Ian McDiarmid was absolutely delightful as Palpatine/Sidious.
As for episodes 7,8 & 9...I don't know what to think or expect. Lucas did some years ago that they will not happen. I am thinking Disney wouldn't have bought Lucasfilm if they would have been unable to do more Star Wars. It is a company after all and the main thing they care about is profit. And even if new SW films arent any good, they are gonna make a helluva profit.

Coincidently the real Star Ship Enterprise is in Davey Jones locker today but as per naval traditions, ships live on:

Yes I just thought about that. I just tried to add:
Sorry that is Star Trek not Star Wars isn't it ...

You ever see "Fanboys"?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0489049/ I don't get the animosity myself. I like both franchises as well as "Dr. Who" and "Blakes 7." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056751/?ref_=fn_al_tt_3 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076987/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

I used to play an online Star Trek RPG where we were allowed to be any race we wanted so my character was a Wookiee. Nobody ever gave me crap about it.
