Lozey, Mountains of Madness by HP Lovecraft. (Tho' maybe Docc did name one of his effects that, too.)
Doug Higley has/had a UFO themed book test. I'm not home and can't remember the title. Out of the Dust, I think. Shad |

That is the name, Doug's book is great.
And yes, as Lozey pointed out, Docc released a book called Mountains Of Madness. It does, of course, use the Lovecraft storyline. Tony |

I remember having an interesting conversation on alien abduction and it's similarities to some of the ancient shamanic rites when I was involved in the new age movement back in the early 90's. The discussion related to mythology where the initiate had their etheric body operated on by dwarf type figures who removed the organs and replaced them with magical gems. These gems then gave the initiate certain powers. This procedure is not wholly dissimilar to the alien abduction experience with its probing and implants. Possibly this cross-cultural comparison could be an interesting'in' to an effect involving aliens. Or possibly dwarfs, or alien dwarfs, but I digress.

Oh yeah, also If Outlaw is making a Lovecraft iinspired effect, then count me in Rick. And if you aren't yet making one, then you should take Dr Spektor hostage until such time as a collaboration yields an eldritch item, which tests the sanity of even the most deranged adept of nameless and ancient gods. But be sure the product is launched under the light of a gibbous moon.

...and when the effect is complete, its premier could take place here:

If you ever get over to Switzerland, you might have some pictures of yourself taken at the Giger Bar. Very few people know that it even exists. It's literally across the street from a museum dedicated to the works of H.R. Giger, the artist behind the disturbing backgrounds and creature from the movie "Alien."

I forgot about this bar, thanks for the reminder dmkraig. Giger definitely marches to his own drum:

The Lovecraft bar and Giger bar both look really cool. Great venues for product launches and spooky shenanigans. There is nothing like either of these venues anywhere near my home town of Brisbane that I'm aware of.
