Fellow Café magicians…I noticed that there are two videos out on spring animals, one is a teach in video, the other is by Jim Pace. Has anybody seen these videos? Which one would you recommend?
Also, I’m hung up on which one to buy, Rocky Raccoon or The Skunk. What’s your preferences? Thanks Kid

Rocky Raccoon!
I wonder if they make a decent white rabbit, as well? I have been looking for one for a long time. Who makes Rocky? Also check out Sean B's animation for Rocky! Hilarious! Doug |

After giving up on a good looking spring rabbit, my wife found a regular stuffed animal at Wal-Mart, did a little surgery and now has one better than I have ever seen anywhere from a magic dealer. Better than that, it was about five dollars. It is certainly more colorful and realistic than the standard issues.
Without the spring, it is a puppet. We use it to wave goodbye in the finale and her aunt thinks it's a live rabbit. Just think if Lucy had spent six dollars? We would have little ones to sell by now! Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

OK, thanks, Bob!
I'll check out Wal-Mart. What kind of "surgery" are we talking about? I just need a realistic-looking (from a short distance) rabbit. Ever pull a live rabbit from a hat at the time it decides to make "its bladder gladder?" Been there... Doug |

Doug,
The rabbit surgery was to open the rabbit at the abdomen and remove the stuffing from the back legs all the way up to the head. Then, I think she did put a sock or something inside the head to keep the rest of his grey matter in. That way the thumb and little fingers can work the front legs and the middle three fingers work the head and face. He (?) is black and white spotted and nearly two feet long. He will fit into a real top hat. Last month she embarrassed him at the Ring meeting by letting it out he was going to a fertility clinic. I have had your experience with real rabbits too. Once my assistant pulled a live rabbit out like a snapping turtle clamped to her finger. That is one of the reasons that when I was doing magic for over fifty shopping malls I got a new rabbit at least every two weeks. Real ones will revolt. Of course, then I was accused of getting rid of the old ones by saying "How many of you children came to the mall without your parents today? Who wants a magic rabbit of your own?" (Never give that kid your business card. Give him the city mayor's card. The parents won't believe him anyway.) |

That's right, too! Ha! I forgot the ol' critter bites, as well! Gotta shop around for one of those Wal-Mart rabbits... Thanks! Doug |
