Fellow manipulators,
Can anyone recommend to me a particular holder for a deck of cards? Instead of using a butterfly clip to hold a packet of cards, I want something that will hold a whole deck of cards. Kyle, you mentioned that you had picked one up somewhere. Could you possibly refer to where you specifically got it, if possible? |

I've heard of the 'Murray Card Dropper' though it is quite expensive, especially if you were doing more than one steal and you had to purchase several.
You can see the clip at http://www.cards4magic.com, it is £15. |

I think I've heard of this holder. BUT will it hold a full deck of cards?

I picked mine up at the SAM Convention. There is a guy from Italy that is there every year that sells a lot of gimmicks and holders of various types. I think his name might be Grupo.
Anyways, the card holder I got from him will hold a full deck of cards in the box. Very simple in design and very easy to make your steals. I can describe it to you in a PM if you would like.

Sure Kyle. I know you described it to me once but I didn't quite understand it.

Sorry Roy. I wish I could explain it better. It is easier when you see it than me trying to describe it. If I find any information on it, or a web site, I will send it over to you.

Do you mean the metal shaped holders than keep your cards straight, or an actual manipulation hold out that will hold a full deck?

No, I mean a 'manipulation hold' that will hold a full deck.

Yeah I know exactly what he speaks of and I have something that does just that. I just have no clue what it is called or if they even make them anymore. I am looking through my stuff to see if I can find out anything.

I wouldn't think it was practical to steal a whole deck, it would be almost impossible to conceal them all in your hand, and there would be a large bulk!
Sorry I don't know where you would get such a thing, where have you seen, heard of them before? |

Actually it is quite practical to steal an entire deck and there are many great transition pieces that can be done with the deck in the box.
With proper misdirection, and the proper placement of the device, you can steal the deck into a modified palm with the edge if the deck concealed from view. Rember that the thin edge takes up less mass then the entire front or back. With this in mind, it is really quite simple to keep out of view until time of the box production. I like to use the deck steal as a great transition piece from one object into another. For example, I take a single blank playing card. I look at it puzzled that there is nothing on it. I then make a magical motion and BAM the card ends up back inside a full deck of cards. It is very visual and quite easy to do if you do the steal the way I mentioned. What happens is that you make the steal for the cards and have them by your side in the left hand. You then take the blank card in your right hand and you do 2 things at the same time. You BP the card in the right as the left hand flips and brings the deck into the right hand view. If done smoothly, you create a very nice instant switch. Give it a shot and you will see what I mean. A very visual and striking use for a full deck steal. I wish I could draw the clip for you all. The clip I have is so easy and simple that you could probably design it yourself.

Thanks so much for the information. This is wonderful. I know I had bought that from him a while back and I always look forward to seeing his booth at each SAM Nationals. I just could not locate any contact information for him. Thanks again my friend.

Hey Roy,
I got my Card Clipper online from www.thetrickery.com I've used it to hold about 30 cards for one of my favorite card tricks "and then there were four", I just find it easier to have the load in one spot, it saves me having to go digging in my pocket, I hope this is of some use, Michael A. :bikes:

It looks well made, but he was looking for a very specific holder which holds a full deck, not sure the Tony Clark one is capable of that.
Kyle, what did you click when you went to the website, it was all foreign and I managed to get into the products page and searched them all but I couldn't find the holder, I'm interested in seeing what it looks like. Thanks |

Yeah The Scot, you are right, I'm looking for something that will hold a full deck. Thanks for your input Michael, it is greatly appreciated.
Rey, I too went to the site you offered but I didn't find any card clip as Scot said. kyle, were you successful. I think I'm just going to end up making my own. A simple bull-dog clip and a safety pin! I'll have to try it out though. |

I could not find the clip on the site as it was foreign and I did not have proper time to really search it. I do know that I got mine from him while at a convention. I also know he does carry them. Your best bet is to possibly shoot an e-mail and ask them about it. It may be well worth it. It works great and can hold a deck of cards with ease. I have used mine a lot and never a problem. It is made well with black plastic and elastic. Simple in design but it works. Heck I should make my own version with so much interest in this. heehee

The Murry Dropper is the only full deck gimmick on the current market that I know of. It pins under your coat. A touch and the full deck drops into your hand. will hold Poker size cards. It is not that expensive but it is a Neilsen Magic product. I have one and it is great.
The only other gimmicks is an old Russ Walsh card dropper that Tannen's use to sell. Don't know if available any longer. Japan magician Kukuchi sold a gimmick that would deliver a full deck into your hand at chest level. Just hold your lapel and the deck ejected into your hand. More for producing a fanning deck. It held poker size cards also. You hand to sew it into your coat. Bill |

The Power Tools were manufactured by Zanadu. He pasted away earlier this year. So, they are not available anylonger.
I contacted McBrides web site, and they informed me of this fact. So all your Zanadu items are now Collectors pieces. McBride site manager said they are looking for a person to manufacture the Power Tools, but no luck as of yet. Bill |
