Anyone who has read any of my other posts will know that I don't say this lightly:
I don't think I've EVER been as impressed by something I've picked up. To be honest, I didn't know a lot about this when I got it - I sort of went in blind... What I did know - The Conversations with Mind Readers set is a series of interviews that Ben Cummings did a number of years back. As does nearly everything on the market, it claimed to be epic. That is all I knew about it. So what drew me in? It is hard to say. I just felt that it would be helpful. I tried to do some research and found a smattering of reviews here and there, most were very complimentary of the work, some just complained about the price. The advertising and reviews didn't specifically tell you what was discussed, it just said that there were hours and hours of material by the greats of the industry. I was really none the wiser, but I was still interested. So I rolled the dice. I listened to the interview with Lee Earle today. Kenton Knepper was yesterday. What Lee says about the importance of premise hit home. I had already begun to work in that direction, but to have something that was at the back of my mind so cleanly stated and brought to the forefront of my attention was like a fog lifting. And Kenton's approach to layering and creating synchronous effects is just as impressive. I have listened to two interviews so far and I cannot wait to listen to the rest. While the performance and showmanship advice is transcendent, the effects that are outlined in the interviews are nothing to be sneezed at. Lee's marked bill in an envelope is simple yet astounding, his remarks about Q and A contain the recipe for miracles, and what Kenton does with a lightbulb demonstrates the birth of what is being considered by many the strongest form of mentalism available today. These are my thoughts from just two of the interviews. There are thirty more to go! Mr. Cummings does a great job of guiding the interview, asking penetrating and insightful questions, and making the whole thing entertaining. And I like that I can now fit mentalism into activities in which it previously had no space. I can't read while I am driving, but with these interviews, all I have to do is listen. It may be that I am at the point in my career where this sort of thing is just what I needed, but I can't express my enthusiasm enough. This is great stuff! If you are interested, you can have a look here: http://conversationswithmindreaders.com/ Hopefully this review makes a number of others more comfortable about taking a gamble on these interviews as well - they are (thus far) truly worth it! Best, Atlas |

Thanks for the review Atlas. Your right in saying that those who read your previous posts would understand you very rarely give reviews such as the one just given. Thanks for bringing these to my/our attention. I will use a I've heard many times around here before..
'Another thing that I can add to the list...' Its not a long list. But it is a list. Cheers, Dave. |

Atlas, you've just begun! It gets better and better. I have every interview on my phone, have listened to all of them countless times, and still learn new things. Ben this was obviously a labor of love and a true gift to the mentalism community. You have recorded a veritable history of the last 50 years of mentalism.
The most important lesson I learned when I first listened to the interviews was how no one opinion on what is good or bad in mentalism defines the field. You will find the interviewees offering diametrically opposed, strongly expressed opinions about every topic we continually debate. This was quite an eye-opener as I worked to define my own beliefs and arrive at "my way" of doing things. The new ad looks great, Ben. And the price is unbelievable. I paid 2-3 times this to get them all on individual CDs. Back then, it made sense. Even at that price, I can't conceive of a better deal in mentalism to this day. There are books that are wonderful and I'm proud to own that cost the same and more but in my opinion the value can't come close to what you'll learn from Conversations. |

Indeed. I got in on this when it was originally offered by Mr. Cummings. Over the years I have gone back on numerous occasions to listen again and again. They are very good!

I did a quiet relaunch in late October. Banachek then offered this to his customers recently and this has been the only marketing I've really done. It's been word of mouth. I'm glad people seem to be interested in this. Any questions feel free to PM me. Take care -

I got my set only about two weeks ago and obviously I barely found the time to scratch the surface - but what I listened to so far was already thought provoking and inspiring on many levels.
The beauty is that simply based on the pure variety of performers the insights and approaches are brilliantly manifold! So even if one wouldn't agree with each and every viewpoint you have to admit that all of Ben's conversation partners generated their insights in years and years of practical experience. So even in some rather 'philosophical' discussions you hear the experience of life and of thousands of real world performances in each and every word. The only thing that made me wonder was that amongst all those heros of mentalism Bob C. is missing. I would have loved to hear him there, ... But then I realized that if I wanted to hear Bob or chat with him, I simply could do this personally. Lucky me! Anyway - the 'Conversations with Mind Reader' are a brilliant source to get an insight into the mindsets of brilliant thinkers and practitioners in mentalism. Get it! Cheers Th. |

Bob and I were never able to connect prior to the release of CWMR. I agree - Bob would make a great interview.

This is such good stuff!
Doctor Bill, you were right! At about halfway through the set, my guess is that you will feel like you ought to be sending Ben another check. Ted Lesley and Richard Busch were great interviews. The interview with Mark Strivings convinced me to adopt a method that I generally never saw the value in - and I am very pleased with the results. I could go on and on, but long posts just cut into my listening time. The bottom line? I am so impressed with the wealth of information these interviews contain! In my opinion, they are a must have. |

Yes, I must say that this package is one of the best, most rewarding products available to the mentalism world. Well worth the investment.

It's funny how so many here are late to the party, yet still have the same great response as when this originally came out.

Mindpro, the information on CWMR is timeless. I believe that is the explanation for the continued best of the best responses.
