Do you have any of the Brushwood book tests, Mark?
And if you do, what do you think of it?

No I don't have his tests, wasn't really impressed with the demo for the money, if I was going to spend that kind of money I'd get MOAB. So far I have:

Can someone explain to me what is so ingenious in Glance if I know 20-30 "difficult" words that appear in magazines and spectator tell me the first letter?
My inspiration goes a little further..Maybe the last open pages could be detected with transmitter-receiver (RFID technology) and then make fishing the letter and word. I don't have the Glance (yet). |

The spectator does NOT tell you the first letter of the word.
You were misinformed!

I'm at work and cannot look at that video, but take my word for it, or else read all 10 of the other pages here.
The spectator can, of course, tell you the first letter of the word, but it is not necessary at all. I don't want to say any more here, because I forget what is common knowledge about this effect. But I have this and I know.

It's not nessisaraly the method but the way you are able to present it that sells the effect. In short, Glance is a wonderful tool if performed correctly. Darren

The best way to do GLANCED is not the way Josh Jay does this in that very early demo you mentioned.
You do not need to fish for the 1st letter - and there is a better method which is extremely easy. I do GLANCE all the time and it is worth triple what is being charged - the quality of the magazines and the method/ease of use are hard to beat and always get gard-hitting reactions from spectators.

I agree with saysold on all of his points.

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet, but "New Republic" magazine seems to have the perfect size cover for Glance. It is also made of a material that feels a little more sturdy than a typical magazine cover.

My presentation is to essentially ask the spectator to find a large word, and for contect to remember the word immediately before (preceding) the word. Once chosen the magazines are put away and I ask them to start with the word before the big word. ***I ask them to imagine mentally drawing the easiest/simplest letter in that word*** 98% of the time they choose the correct letter - the one I (or you) could easily name or draw. I write that letter. If they choose the other letter, then bingo - you have a free gift without fishing. If not you have a hit and can guess the 2nd letter - I usually say its fuzzy but I'm getting an F or a G or an R. I highly recommend GLANCE. However, don't do it the Joshua Jay way (and I love Josh and his material).

***** EXCITING NEWS FOR GLANCE OWNERS! ***** TOSSED OUT MAGAZINE TEST ROUTINE!
Creator Steve Thompson has just created a delicious and killer new twist for "Glance" that adds an enitirely NEW way of presenting one of the best & most powerful mind reading effects ever. This new routine I'm told will be provided FREE to current and future Glance owners! I've read through the 4 page PDF and my brain is swimming with the new possibilities, especially for parlor or stage. Glance has always been endorsed (deservedly) with my my highest recommendation, and this new tossed out concept simply adds extra icing to the cake. Glance is really a kind of mini version of MOABT in a beautifully produced magazine format. If you don't yet own "Glance" you should check it out. This new tossed out routine should be utilized with at least 2-3 magazines and I fully intend to try it out soon. "A note from Steve Thompson: the response to “Glance” has been overwhelming. I have received feedback from performers from all over the world who are using it; often as their finale. It has appeared on TV in the hands of some very high-profile professionals. This has been truly exciting for me. So now I’d like to let you in on a secret. There’s more to “Glance” than we originally told you. I’ve been holding back, but Andi and Josh have nagged me. I believe that what you are about to read could be as strong as mindreading gets. Glance is a tool, and you’re about to learn a brand new way to use it."

I use this in every show I do and it never fails to deliver. I never really post anything when the thread pops up because I honestly love this thing so much, that the less that own it, the better. However, the creators deserve all the best and I hope they are doing well from it.
Will this new "addition" be something we will be able to purchase separately? Rather than buy the whole thing again, or maybe there's more to it????

Vanishing just sent emails to all prior owners today I believe - no need to buy again. This is a gift from creator Steve Thomson, Joshua Jay and Andi Gladwin. For others who bought from Penguin, etc I am sure they have their own ways of getting the info to previous owners so check with your dealer. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ From time to time we find ways to make our products better, or new ways to use items we already love. Our records show you are a user of "Glance," the best book test we have ever encountered. Courtesy of its creator, Steve Thompson, we have a really exciting new handling for it. You can use the magazines you already have, but this new routine idea is too cool NOT to share. So we hope you enjoy it. We have added the download to your "Member's Area." Simply log in and get it for free. And, if you're in need of extra magazines, we're offering a special of FOUR magazines for just $****, and this price is only available to folks like you who have already purchased and are using the magazines. According to Brett it will be free to all current and future owners of "Glance", Jamie.
What I'd like to know is, how do I prove ownership and get my update? I forgot where I purchased this, although I'm reasonably sure that it was from Penguin or Vanishing, Inc. PS- I just noticed Brett's additional update, which gives a little more info. Thanks, Brett!

The 4 Glance magazine deal is really sweet - I won't post the price because it is far too generous!!!
Current owners can "add to cart" at Vanishing and see the 4 magazine deal. Thanks again to Steve, Andi, and Josh for treating us so well!

Hey Brett. I received the email today and downloaded the added content but I haven't looked at the add'l magazine deal. Do you know if the magazines are the same as we already have?
Thanks! Jim |
