Number 65 arrived a few days ago....the cards are really nice and feel great. The phrases are excellent and the look and feel are superb. The system is easy and these will be fun to work with in a variety of settings.

So these cards are ideal for a quick fun reading, and if needed I would then move on to an oracle system that could provide more depth. Mine just arrived yesterday (#s 81 & 82), and I wholeheartedly agree. That aside, I do like the look and m**king system on the cards. Definitely some possibilities. |

Good afternoon folks, glad to hear people are enjoying their decks!
Tim, thanks very much for your review, genuinely appreciated. In regards to the reading system, as Paul quite sagely pointed out, these are intended primarily as a 'quick' reading system. Cartomancy was just one tool in the Ukranian Gypsy's arsenal of fortune telling. The phrases are 'designed' to give the reader (and of course, sitter) as much room for elaboration as necessary. In particular, when looking at past events a card such as the 5C is particularly 'troublesome' ("Your first child will not be your last"). Assuming the sitter doesn't have any children (otherwise they're likely to attribute this card to the birth of their first child and you're home free), then one's abilities in reading come into play, was there a relationship in the past that perhaps shown the promise of children? Was (and is their still) a particular desire to be a parent? etc. Luckily for everyone, there's a new (and free) e-book out next weekend that delves much deeper into Ukranian Gypsy fortune telling than an instructional card ever could. It was intended to be released at the same time as the decks however due to the fact that the card printer is a miracle worker and got decks out to me much sooner than expected, I decided to ship the cards early. I'm assuming nobody really minds!!! I don't really get onto the Café or any other forums a great deal these days, so if anyone's got any specific questions, just drop me a line via the site. Much love, Si V |

Hey Todd, I received 63 & 64 today! I'm leaving 63 sealed as a collector's item if only 666 decks are truly released. Which seems a sincere promise.
The cards are very nice and I can actually read the marks from 3 feet away, which is a very rare and wonderful thing in my experiences with marked cards, especially as I my eyes get older. Plus it took all of two minutes to learn the marking system. I don't know that they needed to be "faux aged" but I don't mind it. I'm just not sure it adds anything. For my tastes, (and I've been spoiled by Outlaw for many years) either truly age an item or leave it be. In any case, DO NOT let this stop you from getting these marvelous cards! Another observation that I know is likely to come off as a criticism and that is not remotely my intent but quite the opposite; these cards are completely illogical! What on Earth is a Ouija board doing on the backside of a playing card that has a Ukranian divination system integrated onto the face side? So off the wall, I love it! The possibilities for backstories are endless. I see these decks as extremely utilitarian. Along with all the possibilities inherent in their design, what a nice way to dip your toes into the pond known as "readings" as well. I'm excited to read that an ebook will has been written to accompany these decks. How will we obatain these? Also, is it or will it be possible to purchase extra cards? DBs and DFs would be of interest to me as well. Thanks for putting out this top notch product. I can't wait to start using it! |

Imagine what you can do, if you know what fortunetelling line belongs to which card combined with a BCS. Unfortunately the lines are in english. Wish there would be a deck in german. But at least they are printed in germany! hahaha

Plus it took all of two minutes to learn the marking system. The marking system is one I created (although I'm sure other people have created it independently) out of frustration. I'd tried almost every marked Bicycle there was and struggled with the markings, especially from distance or in low light. Eventually I just started Sharpie-marking my Bikes in a similar fashion to these, albeit not quite so intuitively due to the Bike design. I'm debating on releasing a marked Bike deck with a similar system, not sure what demand would be like. Quote:

For my tastes, (and I've been spoiled by Outlaw for many years) either truly age an item or leave it be. In any case, DO NOT let this stop you from getting these marvelous cards! They were never really intended to look aged in any way. The back design came first and I felt that a 'clean' standard face just didn't work so I went for a textured paper look to them. One of the advantages of this design is that they're one way fronts with the ability to spot a misaligned card in a very minimal, 'in the hands' spread (Give it a try if you haven't already). Quote:

The possibilities for backstories are endless. Tee hee, it is a little random isn't it? I guess they're an amalgamation of two deck ideas I had, one a reading deck and the other the marked Ouija design. I decided to put the two together so as to create, as you mention, a utilitarian deck. Other than gimmicking, there's really not much you can't do with these! Quote:

Also, is it or will it be possible to purchase extra cards? DBs and DFs would be of interest to me as well. That's not a bad idea, I think I'll ask for some feedback on a larger scale about what gaff cards people would be interested, and quantities etc. There's no reason I couldn't get them done if there's interest. If anyone wants to get the inherent "newness" off the surface of the cards while retaining their rigidity, there's a superb tutorial in the current issue of the Mystic Menagerie by Dan Baines about ageing cards.

I will have to check out that tutorial. Definitely keeping one in the plastic, and also looking forward to the e-book.
Max, I suspect you will, but that's almost a given for anyone who likes reading this particular board. |

You can give good readings if you read the cards as the minor arcana.
The lines don't have any Logic system (not to me, yet) but they add and are accurate. |

I am on page 9 and all my questions and concerns have been answered... I am now glad I bought 4 decks, as this will now be in my pocket even when I am not working... If you haven't already secured one of the 666 limited edition decks do so now...
