Was watching the Joshua Jay lecture on penguin, and he had made a comment that I didn't totally understand why.
maybe I mis-heard him, But he said that he gets a much BIGGER reaction when he does like a TT bill change or EB and changes $1's to $5's rather then changing $1's to $100's. Has anyone else encountered this? Or does anyone have any other input on this? To me it seems the bigger the denomination of the bill the bigger the impact would be. Just curious on what other people think... This one threw me off a bit. Thanks. |

No one has any input on this? it would sure as hell make EB a lot cheaper if the idea stands true. lol

I made 2 sets of EB 2.o.
One with $1 to real $5 bills and another with $1 to $100 The $100 are realistic looking fake $100 bills (Ebay). I also cannot afford to carry around $500 as a gimmick. I start with the $1 to $5 and most of the time the spectator asks if I can change them to $100 bills. After I perform the 1s to 5s, I put the packet into my wallet and when they ask to change them into the 100s I pull out the other packet.

Glenn [/quote] Glenn You're right. I'll make another set. 5s to 100s. Thanks

IMO the most impact comes from how visual the change appears. Color is usually the biggest factor in making this more visual. Find two denominations that are most different in color. In the US, when changing the same color green bills to other green bills, anyone not close enough to see the values won't know what the big deal is! The new $10 bills have a little bit of an orange tint to them; so try changing $1's to $10's.

I agree with J-Mac.
I live in the UK and our paper notes are different sizes/colours. Therefore I use magazine cuttings (black print on white paper) and change them to £20 notes which are a purple colour. It always gets amazing reactions. All the best Michael |

Part of the reason for a better reaction might be that smaller denomination bills are "normal" items, large bills aren't. Everyone knows what a small bill looks like, so they know they're real. If a large value bill appears people may be partly thinking "is that a real $100 bill?", diluting their reaction to the change that's just happened.

I don't like handing out 100 dollar bills to anyone.

Neither do I. You don’t HAVE to hand them out; the change is visual enough to stand as is. IMO
