Frightening. I've been trying to deflect my sadness with humor and a bit of sarcasm about other subjects. But this is becoming overwhelming.
--------------------------------------------------------------------- BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) — Hours before a gunman opened fire at a Connecticut elementary school, police in Oklahoma arrested a teenager for allegedly plotting to attack his high school and trying to recruit classmates to help him. http://news.yahoo.com/okla-teen-arrested......533.html

We need to talk about getting rid of schools. Now everyone has computer and so the kids can be taught at home.
We could have virtual schools and virtual nuts and everything.

Home-schooling certainly works very well for many families.

Testimonials from real homeschooling parents here. Be sure to read the comments (especially the last two comments at the very bottom of the article).
:) I'm not against homeschooling ... I just suspect it is as hit or miss as public schooling, based on what I've seen of both.

My Uncle used this same argument, forgetting that other's who did not have kids in the public schools or may not have gone to school themselves, were paying for his education. We all pay for services that we ourselves don't use ie: Food Stamps, Welfare, Free Medical for those who can't pay, Keeping Our Prison's running etc... I agree that if we get rid of our schools, school shootings will come to an end. We can eliminate bank robbing by getting rid of the banks. Get rid of cars and car accidents will go down. Get rid of guns and shootings will go down. Let's get rid of People, that way crime in general will go down, since most crime is done by People. Iven

It's ok with me if you don't support tax credits for private school tuition; just be aware that such a policy disadvantages the poor. The rich can afford school choice already.

The mother was rightly preparing for the fall of America and the Western World that the Banksters are bringing about by design. Everyone needs a gun, gold and a getaway plan. The pressure that the Babksters have created a world where people have nothing left to lose and people have nothing left to lose they lose it. As America goes down so more crazy incidents will increase. The Bankers are not the men that will be blamed for nothing.

Bah, tommy, haven't you been listening to all these NRA members here? Why do I need gold? If I've got a big enough gun, I can take yours.

Home-schooling is not a panacea. But no home-schooled children were killed at Columbine or Sandy Hook. It's a judgment that should be up to the parents. As I see it, the schools are providing the children an education on behalf of their parents, it is a delegation of a parental responsibility. The children do not belong to the state.
