Can anyone prove that a purple & gold spaceship did not land yesterday at 4 pm GMT in Antarctica and the beings inside got out and sang a capella Minnie the Moocher to a reggae beat?

But, Lobo, who is to say that a nuclear bomb didn't go off in your bedroom yesterday and that you are now simply living in a alternative universe in which the event didn't happen?
(Remember the Twilight Zone episode in which Dennis Weaver continuously relives the last day of his life which always ends with him going to the electric chair?) Am hitting the Christmas egg-nog early today! |

How about the one with the guy on the ship who has to continue to relive that day aboard the ship he sank?

There is one other carol that I like. IF it's done well. "Oh Holy Night." The section that starts; "Down on your knees, oh hear the angel voices." can send chills down your spine if the singer has the power.

I loved the Little Drummer Boy and until this year it was my favorite Christmas carol. Whaddya mean some of you don't like the parum pa pa pum part - that's the best!
This year I have been listening to O Holy Night a lot - very pretty song regardless of any religious affiliation. My least favorite is the Twelve Days of Christmas. I also have a dislike for Good King Wenceseles (sp?) ever since my grade 4 Music Teacher made the entire class remember all the verses which seems like they went on forever. That song is stuck in my head at Christmas ever since and I still can recite all the verses. |

I listen to Messiah several times every Christmas season (only 3 this year because I've been busy).
I first heard Messiah live when I was 16 or 17. I knew very little of the work or of music in general and had little idea what to expect. When the chorus For Unto Us a Child is Born I began to tremble. My whole body became alive and I was mentally and spiritually moved by music in a way that I had never experienced before. I have only had this experience a few times in my life, but I distinctly remember this as the first. I still love the chorus, mainly because I remember the power of the musical moment. Like many things, over-exposure has deadened the experience. But Messiah remains an important part of my Christmas musical experience; and serves to remind me of the transcendent power of art. John
