Nice on both posts. I love shortbread cookies too. Never tried to make them though. I'd think they need lots and lots of butter.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

I posted the recipe for Tom & Jerrys on another page. Rather than duplicate it all here, you can click this link. Just scroll down toward the bottom of the page.

MVMagic's Scandanavian puff pastery pies bring back so many memories. I have spent sixteen Christmasses in Lapland, where they are a staple, and delicious. By now they are as important to me as mince pies.
This is my second Christmas at home in two decades. I spent the evening boiling a ham, and some spiced beef, and tomorrow we roast the turkey. We also have plenty of sprouts and red cabbage, roast root vegetables, and roast potatoes and potatoe croquettes. To finish we will have flaming christmas pudding, mince pies, Christmas cake, and stilton cheese. Bon appetite.

We'll be having mashed potatoes and veggies tonight, and tomorrow evening we'll be having pizza at our favorite pizza joint, because they're giving away a $20 coupon which can be applied to a meal anytime in January.

Hey Arthur, have you ever heard of Groupons? Not sure where you live, but go to
http://www.groupon.com/ and sign up. They offer great restaurant deals (among lots of other things as well) for your local area. Typically, 50% savings. You buy a $40 Groupon for the restaurant and only pay $20 for it. Present the Groupon when you want to use it. Check it out.

Todd, I live in DE, just a few miles north of the Mason Dixon line. Shrimp and creamy grits are huge here, also a beachy community. Delicious. They serve it all year round, not just at Christmas. Curious, what is pirleau? I just googled and couldn't find it.

Good find Michael! Which search engine did you use to locate it?

I use Google, but searched for both Pirleau and boiled shrimp at the same time. There seem to be other spellings of Pirleau (like Pilau), but some variance in the recipe.
I also have a gazillion cook books, so it's likely in one of them, too.
