I am seriously considering getting this.If anyone has this video from Docc or could possibly shed some light on its value,I'd appreciate it.How is it compared to material from other pros.?
I read a review somewhere where it was stated and I quote"You may appear (to someone who knows readings) to be doing a classic reading, but you will never have to backtrack. You will never have to have an "out" ready to go. You will hit the nail on the head every time. If you tell a woman that she's wondering about a secret wish, you can take it to the bank that that's exactly what's going through her head. With the Perfect Mental Club Act you're in control at all times." That seems like a pretty strong act!At $150 for a 45minute video,it seems a lot unless its 45minutes of no fluff but pure gold material.I would welcome any comments on this. |

The routine is geared towards a club setting, I'm guessing a comedy club in the late 80s setting, but it is adaptable for many different environments.
Overall, the video is excellent. Docc gives a great routine and the method is good as well. The material is gold if you are looking into doing readings. If this is just a recreational endeavor it may not be worth your while. Will you do it though? that's the tough part, actually sitting down and following through with making up your show. oliver |

The routine is definitely geared towards an audience of strangers. You would not do this for a small company holiday party where everyone knows everyone else, the group dynamic is wrong. The copy cited above is dead on. You will get your readings with absolute on the head accuracy, however do not be confused, this is not a cold reading technique you will be able to transfer to private readings or anything else of the sort. This is strictly for the show and the Q&A act itself.
Worth $150? The standard advice always applies, if you use it it's worth many times what you have paid for it. If not, then hopefully you view your purchase as part of an ongoing education. Failing that, it's just another video on the shelf. My opinion, this is pure gold and worth much more than the meager asking price. (And if you are one of those who gets cranky about me using the word 'meager' with regards to the price of this video, you are either an elitist who only wants to keep the good stuff to yourself - not saying it's right or wrong but believe me I understand where you're coming from - or you have no business getting this video at all) Mark Strivings

I think the true value of this act is its practicality.
With only a slate, a deck of card, and a tiny bit of preshow work (so tiny that you could omit it and still give a top-notch performance), you can walk-on and provide 30 minutes of solid entertainment. If you work a lot of club dates, I suspect this act will prove quite valuable. Don't become entranced wondering about the METHOD, however. The effect you have on your audiences will rest entirely you your ability as a performer, not on the methodology provided. In the hands of a good performer, it IS a strong act; a poor performer, however, will do poorly with it. Gregg Tobo |
