This is one that kept getting started and then put on a back burner.
I carved the head at least a couple years ago, then at some point after, I carved the hands. The beginning of this year (2012 in case some don't see this until tomorrow) I made the body and started carving the feet. Yesterday and today, I worked on finishing the feet, making the arms and legs, putting it all together and cushioning and lining the case I found for him and where I kept all the parts stored along the way. So anyway, I call him Timmy. His jacket and pants are an old Jerry Mahoney doll outfit, or is it a Danny O'Day, I forget, but that tells you the size of this figure (I haven't measured him, but he's probably about 30"). So without further ado, here's a bunch of pictures;

I wish I have your talent... the only thing wooden I made for myself two decades ago was a magicians drawer box that took me weeks to make end it ended up too small and too heavy. I never tried making anything again....

Dave, I like the figure very much and I see you now have the same reputation of Tim Selberg, having to wait two years for a finished figure

Thank you guys!
And Howie - at least the only one I kept waiting was myself.

Yes, quirky, that works, a little figure like that should be quirky.

Nice job, Dave. He reminds me a bit of Frank Byron, Jr.

As one whose stick figures are an embarrassment, I greatly admire anyone who can draw, sculpt, carve, etc. Congrats, Dave, on finishing this unique character.

Thank you all for the good words.
Dan - no production, a one-off for me. Already started on a different project that I think you guys will like. Keith - Thank you for saying that he reminds you of Frank Byron Jr., I didn't plan it, but when I was all done, I sort of saw that too.

I forgot to mention, the little guy isn't going second class in that case, that lining over the cushioning is soft glove leather.

Believe it or not, I have a book called "Do It Yourself Coffins for Pets and People" by Dale Power.
At the bottom of the cover it says, "Schiffer Book for Woodworkers Who Want to Be Buried in Their Work" It's a real book, not a gaga, although it was a hah gift from someone for a friend who is into woodworking, he didn't want it around so he gave it to me, and I can't get rid of books.....

You can have it, I don't know when I'll actually get it in the mail to you, could be a while until the next time I have to go to the post office, but if you are not in a hurry for it, you'll have one coming at some point.

No need Jim, the timing was actually good, I recently realized I need to thin out my bookshelves drastically, I just sent a box of books to my brother in AZ, and now there's one more good as gone.
