^ First, I'm jealous of you guys who have seen so many Close-Up magicians live! Second, David Neighbors is so smooth, he makes EVERYTHING he does look like REAL magic. Which, BTW, is his mantra. His tongue-in-cheek punny humour assures you not to take him TOO seriously. But he still baffles.

Just thinking first of the ones no longer with us... Vernon, Slydini, Del Ray, Mike Rogers, Frank Garcia, Don Alan, Martin Nash, Albert Goshman... I know I'm forgetting some.
Each were special and impressive in their own way. Their routines are mostly well-known. Each left me with a different kind of inspiration.

Eugene Burger. Originally went to his lecture in 1984 and consumed all his books. His close-up magic was unlike anything else I had learned up to that time, because he created "theater" out of every effect. He had a profound impact on my thought, routine building, practicing, everything.
I was privileged to attend another lecture in Kansas City 20+ years later. He was still just as engaging as ever, and still a fantastic teacher of finesse and subtlety. I brought all my books, which he had already autographed in 1984; and he graciously signed them again for me.
WHAT IF you wake up tomorrow with ONLY the things that you THANK GOD for today?

Saw Darwin Ortiz tape the Cardshark tapes for L&L live. Those were outstanding performances.
