I've just received Marc Paul's lecture notes. They are very good.

I just purchased Small but Deadly by Paul Hallas and it is super if you are at all into packet tricks. Highly recommended.
My next purchase will be Book of Secrets by John Carney, if he ever gets it reprinted. I will continue to buy magic books as long as they are printed, there are actually none that I would say are no good. Rennie
The effect is the important thing, how you achieve it is not.......

Rennie,
I have heard romours that John will indeed reprint "Book of Secrets", if he get enough interest into it. What I heard is that he is taking up names for it on his website. Peo

I talked to John Carney after his lecture in Washington, D.C., and he confirmed that he will reprint the book, probably by the end of the year. A bonus of attending his lecture was that he had some copies of the first editions with him for sale so I snatched one up!!!! He said he had mailed them to the lecture location quite a long time ago.

I don't know what the next book I buy will be. I would dearly LIKE for it to be The Secret Ways of Al Baker but don't think that will happen due, to Christmas time coming up. I need my moolah for gifts. I am always on the lookout for good material concerning the performance aspect of entertaining though, so any recommendation would be welcome.

I'm waiting somewhat patiently for the new Sharpe book to come out in December. That or Chuck Hickok's Mentalism Inc.
I'm glad the Book of Secrets is being reprinted. It's great guys. You'll love it. It has the dubious distinction of sitting on the back of my toilet. I get to reread bits of it everyday. You probably didn't need to know that did you? The point is, it's one of the best books to come out in the past few years. Mark

I highly recommend Mentalism Inc. to anyone who wants to perform in the corporate world. I believe the material in this book will help any performer, but Hickok performs in the corporate arena and has given some very interesting and appropriate advice about this area of performance. Get it and read it over and over again.

I was just looking over my little want list and I noticed that, for a change, the list was actually top-heavy with DVDs. There are still a number of books (both currently available and forthcoming) that are going to have me whipping out a credit card.
Pit Hartling's Card Fictions John Bannon's Dear Mr. Fantasy the Tamariz Memorized Deck set the new Tom Stone book (Hermetic Press, but don't know the title or the actual publication date) the Gaetan Bloom magnum opus (Miracle Factory...sometime in 2004, I hope!) Marlo's Revolutionary Card Technique And if the past is any guide, I'm sure there'll be some surprises hitting the shelves around Christmas or after the first of the year. Jeremy |

OK this is a fun one...
Card Fictions tops my list as well. I never got a copy of Impossibilia and am afraid it might go out of print before I get it, so that is on my list. Star Quality would be next if I found it for sale! I am also looking foward to a few new/reprints which should be soon available. The Bannon book, Card Craft reprint, and Larry Jennings Takes It Easy are ones which come to mind. Mark |
