Man, now I might need to go to my local shop (Misdirections) and get the Trost book this Sunday!!!
I must be crazy, as I have not even come close to digesting my new Secrets Draun From Underground by Richard Kaufman, but my interest has now peaked in the trick Intuition. Oh well, I guess if I live long enough I will be able to digest all this stuff one day. Thanks for making me crazy with magic book buying disease Mr. Davidson! The cure is always around $50 bucks it seems....

Here's the effect.
The magician has two decks of cards, one red and the other blue, and asks a spectator to freely select one of the decks. The spectator picks up whichever deck he'd like, and while the magician looks away, the spectator cuts the deck face down, reverses the card he cut to, and completes the cut. The magician now faces the spectator, explains how it's impossible to see the reversed card in the middle of the deck, and then the magician picks up his deck and says that he'll reverse a card the hard way. The magician holds the deck behind his back for a split second and then brings the deck forward. The magician tells the spectator to hold his deck face up and the magician does the same. The magician then asks the spectator to deal his cards slowly face up in a pile and to count them out loud (one, two, three, etc.) while the magician does the same in unison with his deck. Both the magician and the spectator deal until they reach the face down card in their deck, only to find that they have both stopped at the exact same position (for example, the face down card in both decks is at the 19th position). The magician mentions what a coincidence this is, but that it's even stranger that the both of the cards match, as he turns both cards face up to reveal that both are the 3 of diamonds (or whatever card). What I like about the effect is: 1. It's different; 2. It's incredibly clean, that is to say that there are no extraneous/unmotivated moves (in fact, there's no sleight of hand used whatsoever); 3. The effect is reset at the conclusion; and, 4. Most importantly, it plays strongly, which is really the only thing that matters. Larry D. |

Hi Guys,
My copy of The Card Magic of Nick Trost arrived yesterday. I've had the chance to read over a few of the effects and I must say that I'm very happy with my purchase. I'm really into gambling routines, whether it be watching them or performing them and it was to my pleasant surprise that the Trost book has quite a few gambling routines throughout it. Oh and not forgetting Intuition!!! Very nice effect. Peakey |
